Saina + Sony + Classics = Cheating

Recently Saina and Sony released some Malayalam DVDs. The movies are classics and people would love to own them on a DVD.

Saina claimed that all the 100 titles they would release on DVD would be remastered with 5.1 sound and Subtitles. These titles were earlier released by MoserBaer for Rs.34/-, Rs.39/-, Rs.49/- or Rs.69/- or maximum Rs.99/-. Moserbaer had released these titles in DVD9

Saina in association with Sony has released 10 titles for now and another 90 titles coming up. Saina has released these classic movies on DVD5. The video quality of the movies is really pathetic. There are better prints of these titles available on either YouTube or Hotstar. And guess the price?...well it is Rs.130/-

I would suggest that you do not buy any of these titles and waste your money, better watch better quality on Hotstar and YouTube for free.

Ah Heck... DVD-5 ?!!! All these are excellent films, and hence thought they'd make good on their claims of having these titles remastered for these new DVD releases. Wonder how these - all close to 3 hrs in runtime - would end up looking with those single-layer discs.

The DVD of Chemmeen authored by Super Digital is pretty good, except for some print damage and DNR. No subtitles, though, and I'm sure it's been out of print for years.
