Die Darkman Die is actually pretty good.

Return of Durant kinda sucks, though. Especially since it was kinda rushed into production WHILE what became the third film was either balls deep into shooting or after it was done. You can really tell since there's major continuity errors if you watch them in order.

Still waiting on a "real" Darkman sequel with Neeson...hey, he's a far more bankable action lead now than he was in 1990, and the fact that he's older won't matter, because he'll spend most of the movie covered with bandages or another actor's face. Hell, fold him into the Marvel universe.

Default Darkman II / Darkman III (1995-1996) coming from Scream Factory

These lack the creativity and madness of the original film, they don't make good on the first film's ending, Arnold Vosloo isn't 1/10th the actor Neeson was, KNB's Darkman's makeup is terrible compared to Alterian's in the first movie and the writing is mediocrity personified.

I'll still buy 'em.

Agreed. As it stands, I'll probably just stick with the Vudu hdx editions on these. Not really strong sequels to buy on their own (imo).

DARKMAN III: DIE DARKMAN DIE is actually a great b-movie, I love it. It's just a video sequel, but very entertaining and well done.

There will be no peace in the world until DARKMAN 1 gets a proper 4K treatment, because the usual UNIVERSAL HD Master they keep using is 100% terrible, plagued by massive DNR.

Yeah the German disc is the best but it's still not great.

DARKMAN is one of the greatest movies of all times and one of my personal cinematic heroes. What a shame.

Thumbs down

Shout! won't even release cheapo DTV sequels as a double feature?

You know how I would buy these on Blu? As a double feature, for <$10, in the Walmart bargain bin. You know, the way Universal themselves would do it. Or, bundled with the first movie, the way Vestron would do it. I'll run out to pay $25 apiece for DTV Darkman sequels after I'm done building my complete Scorpion King collection. And you can guess when that is....

I would have preferred a double-feature too... I still have to upgrade the first movie, maybe a trilogy case would have been a nice option too.

I'll bite if they include the failed tv show pilot and alternate Darkman II tv cut.

Trivia Fact: Both sequels were filmed close together, with Die, Darkman, Die intended as the second in the series. But when The Return of Durant was completed first, Renaissance Pictures released it ahead of time. This made some changes necessary for what became the third film.

Personally, I like them both, but Jeff Fahey's performance becomes too campy at the end of Die, Darkman, Die. I don't know if it was the writing, or the switching of order in post-production...but Rooker's attitude took a major shift about halfway through that film...and not very believably. But i still enjoy the subplot about Westlake comforting his wife and daughter; Roxann Dawson was a great costar.
