I gave mine to a cousin (5 years old) who doesn't have a console. I would recommend the same (not too a cousin, but someone young who maybe cannot afford a console yet to at least get brand awareness out there).

Are you really going to use the PS2? As soon as I got my PS3 I never used the PS2 console again. I tried playing the games on my PS3, but the PQ was so awful, similar to SD television that I had to give it away. The extra $50 I could have received for it in trade in was so insignificant that it would be better to just give it away.

$50 covers some tax at least. Better than nothing.

I still use my PS2 because I'm a cheater. I use cheats to speed up my RPG experience because I don't have time to spend 60+ hours on a game but a few well places cheats and I can widdle that down to 30-40 hours.

FFXII was a great example, they have a cheat to make you run super fast and I probably saved at least 5 hours in walking alone, but I didn't ruin my experience by making my self too powerful or giving myself key items.

I guess I should deprive my cousin who cannot afford a console so that I could cover the tax on an already $600 device. Please be realistic.

my ps2 was in "like new" condition. I sold it for $130 including an extra dua shock controller, ps2 memory card, ps1 memory card, logitech wireless controller, verticle stand and component HD cables. I had all packaging etc.

you can also always just use it as a gimpy DVD player for an extra TV.

i'm keeping mine because i have a NTSC-J ps3 so i can't play any of my ps2 games anyway (argh).

Do the right thing and not the greedy thing.

DONATE YOUR OLD VIDEO GAME PLAYERS AND GAMES TO YOUR NEAREST CHILDRENS HOSPITAL.

The cancer floor has really appreciated my complete and in good working order PS1 and PS2 (with some of my unwanted games) systems.

Helping those sick children is always the right thing to do.

I say keep it even if it is the EU version. If there goes some thing wrong with the PS3.

I use my PS2 on a second tv to watch DVDs and play some games. Also, games like Guitar Hero, Dance Dance Revolution, and even Final Fantasy XII (FFX works fine, go figure) don't work with the PS3 remote. You need to either buy a new wireless controller for each game, an adapter to connect the existing controllers to USB ports on the PS3 and pray it accepts them, or just play them on the PS2.
Until I can test one of these adapters i will keep using my PS2.
