So disappointed my theater showed the dub yesterday but because of renovations didn't show the sub of Nausicaa

That sucks! I went on Monday, and while a lot better, there are still some issues with the subtitles.

"Honto ni?" (Really?) got translated as "Promise?" (Yakusoku)

"Oka-sama" (Mother, respectful) got translated as "Thank you" (Arigato/etc)

There were quite a few more, but these were the ones that stuck out to me.

I hope a more faithful translation makes it on the new blu rays.

Just got back from seeing Nausicaa in the movie theater right behind the hotel I'm staying at - I'm traveling on a 3-day business trip and found out the movie was showing tonight at the theater complex just a few hundred yards from my hotel! I really wanted to see it back home on Monday subtitled, but wasn't able to make it then, and figured I would miss seeing it at all because of my trip. I guess this was the first Ghibli movie I've actually seen in a commercial theater, and on a much larger projection screen than my 120" at home...

I'll hopefully get out to see Howl's Moving Castle in November yet... Not really interested in seeing Spirited Away in October, as that's actually one of my least favorite Ghibli movies. I'm actually going to be seeing the RWBY Season 5 Premier in October instead, already got four tickets reserved for me and three other friends to go - totally psyched for that one!

Just got back from Nausicaa too and what a great treat it was seeing it on the big screen. I actually found the mini shorts pretty entertaining too.

I saw it on Monday with the original Japanese track/English dub. Great experience, and it worked even better on the big screen. Wonderful!

Gkids BD releases of Porco Rosso and Arrietty available for preorder on Amazon. Release date Nov 21.

Cover art and release dates are up for Whisper of the Heart, My Neighbors the Yamadas and The Cat Returns. Also, saw someone post this in another thread, and thought it was interesting:

"Spoke with someone at NYCC at their [GKids'] booth. All new extras aren't really new per say. They're all archival. Also, none will include digital copies as Miyazaki doesn't like them and would prefer we all see the movies in the theater. Lastly, they now have the rights to all the more recent movies. They'll all be coming out over time on staggered release dates."

If this is true, then we should see a GKids release of The Wind Rises, and possibly The Red Turtle. Which means every Ghibli film, with the except of Grave of the Fireflies, will have a matching spine.

I don't think Ghibli actually owns the Red Turtle outside of Japan. They definitely do not have full ownership of it.

Even the Japanese release of The Red Turtle does not match the rest of the Studio Ghibli siilhouette singles series there, as it comes in a side-load slipbox rather than the standard Ghibli magnetic-latch digipak. The booklet inside has a silhouette cover design on the front, but not on the front of the slipbox.

I hope the extras for these releases are announced soon. It would be awesome if Whisper of the Heart included On Your Mark as that's what the short was attached to in theaters in Japan originally.

Even though it's based on the Japanese poster, I'm not a fan of that Whisper of the Heart cover art at all. The Cat Returns looks even worse. I will happily stick with my Disney releases and purchase Yamadas separately.
