Default PS3 Blu-Ray Sound question, I'm new.

Alright, this question is not completely retarded, I am looking for an expert's opinion on this. I have a Sony Bravia XBR 52" LCD, the PS3, a Yamaha HTR-6090 receiver (capable of 7.1 but only running a 5.1 setup), and JBL Speakers, with a 12" Subwoofer.

Now, the only thing I am getting thrown off by is, when watching Blu-Ray Movies, should I set the sound to uncompressed, and leave my receiver on the Dolby PLII? Or should I also set my receiver to PCM as well?

I have tried both, and I notice the volume gets louder when switched to PCM, but it seems that my sub woofer doesn't have the same... Presence. So basically, I'm trying to determine which is the best setup for me. I could have probably figured it out with a lot of digging, and frustration, but I was hoping someone here could help me out.

Thank you for the help!

Shane

Default

Keep the PS3 set to PCM output through hdmi.

But if you should use PLII or not, that's probably up to personal preference. Just a quick look in my Yamaha manual, seems PLII is more for 7.1 setups, for whether you place the added two speakers in the front or in the rear.
