This is true if you get a receiver like the onkyos we've discussed. The pioneer does not do that. For the onkyos, everything gets upconverted to HDMI (I believe) and you only have the one cable going to the TV. Other receivers will do this as well, so if you find one that looks good, share the link and we can tell you more if you're unsure of what it can do.
