![]() I attended a "review" where all sorts of players were tested for all sorts of features, and the Pio sounded best to me, through what was being used. It was a sum of some receivers, amps, speakers, etc. "donated" for the review. I feel my choice in BR players was validated and I cannot wait to get 5.1 going. ![]() Last edited by MoPe; 01-01-2009 at 03:45 AM. |

I like Pionner for P/Q & A/Q and it match my Elite A/V 09. I had marantz A/v bafor my Pioneer and Marantz make a good product. The onty Yamaha I own is a YZ250 motocrooss bike, all 3 player are about the same.If the YAMAHA BD-S2900 match your YAMAHA A/V. I would keep the money down on it.

Even if the Pio is as much better as you say, he will have difficulty seeing the difference on the type of equipment he has. I think the money would be better spend upgrading other areas of his HT. I know he has a concern with warrantys. But look at it this way, he can buy 2 or 3 Sony's oe Panny's for the price of that Pio. |

With what you have and price your are looking for I would get the Yamaha. I've owned Yamaha audio for 27 years and will buy again one day.

![]() Two days ago i called Yamaha Canada and told them i was buying the BD-2900 and i wanted the latest firmware. They put me in to tech. The gentleman told me he didn't know nothing about this player.i TOLD HIM I WANTED THE FIRMWARE BURNT AND TO MAIL IT TO ME. He told me he didn't know if he could do this and he might lose his job. ![]() I asked him if there was a site i could burn firmware. He told me its a possibility that i would have to mail the player into them to install firmware.I said WTF. ![]() Then i realized this gentleman absolutely knew Nothing about the product and it's been out for 3 months. Not cool. ![]() He told me to call back on the 5th because nobody knew what to do and the supervisor with be in at that date. I Was thinking that there has been no new firmware up dates yet because of the unit being so new. But you would think one of there employees would have SOME info on this player After the phone call i started questioning the support for this player and rightly so. ![]() |

There is no firmware out for the BDS-2900.You register your player on line and when new firmware comes out they send you a e-mail.I would have two choices. 1) burn it from the site they place the firmware on 2)call them and they will burn it and mail it out That's what i thought but when i talked to dumb ass at Yamaha Canada and he told me i might have to mail it out,There's no doubt i had to find answers . |

Happy New Year Ozzman!
I am biased because I love Yamaha period. The BD S2900 is the right one. It matches your Yamaha 3800 receiver too making a nice looking addition to your audio equipment rack. The Marantz as a second choice looks promising to me. In particular it has an interesting feature: ...the BD7003 outputs 1080p video signals at either 24 or 30 full frames per second. This feature makes it the ideal source when you’re using compatible display devices such as our VP-11S1, VP-11S2, and VP-15S1 front projectors. And it avoids the inevitable compromises that the standard 3:2 pulldown process inflicts on every film-based movie. Since BDs are recorded 24 fps, to output 30 fps, the BD7003 still has to convert it. But if it really reduces the judder that 3:2 pulldown process inflicts, it would seem like there has to be more advanced circuitry employed which makes me skeptical at this price that there can be. I didn't read any reviews. But I would if I were really considering to buy it. Still very interesting though. |

No vibration problems, solid connections, excellent quality CD drive, etc. etc. I am very pleased with my ES model. ![]() Usually, the heavier the unit, the better quality parts, but on a few instances that is not the case. Furthermore, I don't recall coming along a product that had a solid weight, and sounded/looked horrible. |
