Should we read anything into the fact that a lot of titles Wade Williams owns the rights to are showing up in the Twilight Time store? It's just the old DVD versions, but I've never noticed them there before.

It was written by Paddy Chayefsky and has the same satirical tone as his later film Network. I seem to think there was also a mild mystery element to it, it’s been a while since I’ve seen it myself, but I remember it was a great film.

Bridge of Remagen IMO is closer to A Bridge Too Far. It takes place during WW2 which shows you the horror of war, so just not a patriotic war movie and which you could substitute Vietnam for WW2 in it. I give it my highest recommendation.

They will send you a link usually a week or so after you received the item asking you to review the movie. Doing that will give you a $2 off coupon.

I haven't seen this in a while and is another title I ordered from Twilight Time, but I always remember it as being a great film, so I totally agree with you and would highly recommend it.

GUYS:

Thanks for the reviews.
My main concern for THE BRIDGE AT REMAGEN is historical accuracy.
I have the Bluray BATTLE OF THE BULGE, and it's difficult to watch because it's filled with inaccuracies and silly fluff.
A BRIDGE TOO FAR is one of the best war movies because Richard Attenborough wanted it to be as accurate as possible.
I tried to get a library dvd of THE BRIDGE AT REMAGEN, but it's not available.

The reviews for the Bluray THE HOSPITAL seem ok---the video is good, not great, and there are no special features such as commentary, so I might stick with my dvd version.

It is a film, right? Noone said it's a documentary.
A great or not film hasn't got anything to do with historic accuracy.

99.99% of the war/historic films are innacurate!

Yes, I also have Battle Of The Bulge on blu-ray. I liked it in so far as being entertaining to watch, but that's about it really, and generally speaking I like war films anyway - fact or fiction. However, you're right regarding A Bridge Too Far which happens to be one of my favourites.

There are quite a few I wouldn't mind getting, but I've got too much else to spend on over the next few months, so I'm limiting myself on this sale, probably in two separate orders, to balance it out over a couple of paychecks.

Alice
Bananas
The Bridge at Remagen
The Hospital
Sayonara

Eureka
Hour of the Gun
Kid Galahad
Lawman
Play Dirty
Stanley & Iris

Just got done watching U-Turn. Man I love this film. I remember seeing it when it first came out and thinking it was good but nothing spectacular. Then when I bought the blu ray I instantly fell in love with it and it just gets better and better with repeat viewings. A great crazy neo noir with a top notch cast who all give great performances especially the scene stealing Joaquin Phoenix and Billy Bob Thornton. Morricone's score is wonderful too. This has to be Oliver Stone's most overlooked film IMHO.

I also watched one of my all time favorite films At Close Range last night. Another criminally overlooked neo noir crime thriller that features Christopher Walken's finest performance IMO. He plays one of the top 5 most frightening villains in film history in that film IMHO. Patrick Leonard's score is outstanding and the isolated score track is one hell of a treat. I really wish it was available on CD. For anyone who hasn't seen At Close Range I highly recommend a blind buy.

AKORIS:

I watch A BRIDGE TOO FAR every September 16 on the anniversary of Operation Market-Garden.
In case you're not aware of it, the Bluray version has no special features, but the dvd Collector's Edition has a second dvd with lots of informative special features such as making of documentary, interviews with veterans of Market-Garden, etc.
I have the Bluray for watching the movie and the CE set for watching the special features.

Also, John Addison who composed the score for A BRIDGE TOO FAR was a Sherman tank commander who along with another crew member, were the sole survivors when their tank was knocked out.

Twilight Time and Screen Archives, difference in shipping costs aside, is there a reason to place an order with one over the other, when it comes to packaging or even being customs friendly? Thanks!

I've made several orders over the years from Screen Archives of about 5-6 titles and in each case the blu-rays were wrapped in bubble wrap and put in an appropriately sized cardboard box. They are Customs friendly and indicate on the label that the box contains "CDs" with a value of "$10". Each order has come with a working tracking number and usually takes about 2 weeks to reach me at my home address in Canada.

Maybe someone can weigh in what ordering direct from Twilight Time is like, but Screen Archives gets top marks from me.

Decided to blind buy Romeo is Bleeding. My step father loaned me the VHS years ago but I never got around to watching it. Reading lots of polarizing things over time has made me really want to check it out. Plus, Juliette Lewis.

I watched my copy about a month or two ago, which was the first time I had seen it since it was originally released on VHS. It definitely has that 90s post-Tarantino crime flick vibe, and feels a bit DTV at times. But I actually did enjoy watching it. Sorry to say but Juliette Lewis is barely in it, but Lena Olin, WOW, she steals the show with an insanely OTT performance.

FYI, Mindwarp is still readily available on Amazon for $20 and change. I bought a brand-new copy from a third-party dealer there last week for $15.50.

Picked up Eureka and Cutter’s Way from the sale based on (Elric’s recommendations from) the Twilight Time episode of Pure Cinema Podcast. The trailers and subject matters sold me even more. Anybody else have any strong feelings on either of these?

I've had no problems whatsoever ordering from Twilight Time. I placed an order with them last month and it arrived 15 days later here in the UK. They e-mailed me a confirmation that it had been despatched and included a link to track it. It arrived well wrapped too, and yes I did have to pay duty on it, but I expected that anyway.

Also, when I e-mailed them with an enquiry, they replied very quickly, so I can't fault their customer service. I haven't tried Screen Archives.....maybe next time.
