You would be surprised how many people still don't use the internet for shopping.

Don't have credit cards
Are afraid of identity theft
Non-computer savvy
Like the B&M shopping experience
Price is no object
Ignorant of prices

Lots of reasons.

but its on the rise, Holiday spending was reported down 8% among B&M stores, while online merchants saw a 7% increase, Definitely Good News for the online community

I'm gonna have to go with online! ½ a year ago I saw Vacancy in a b&m store here in Denmark for $62!!!! I went straight home and ordered the same movie from UK for $15 with 2 day shipping I've bought less than 10 BD in stores, and 6 of them I bought on a trip to the US They have a crazy sale at my local store right now! Only $60 for 2 catalogue BD Besides, BD probably takes up 1/50 of the shelve space at my local stores..! Pretty sad

Amazon is losing it's edge on pricing.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....uct&id=1919817
$22.99 - Best Buy

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...rd_i=193640011
$22.99 - Amazon

Then there's the "Have it now, Play it now" thing.
When the price is the same or within ~$2 of amazon and there is no wait(other than the 20 minutes to drive home), I'll take Play it now, For The Win, Alex.

I, for one, do not prefer to use my credit card online. I will call a place and charge it over the phone, but I have to admit that I am very reluctant to put my credit card information in an online form or stored in a virtual account. I am computer technology savvy, but I come from the old school a bit. I have two good friends who have had to deal with online credit card identity theft on a multi-grand basis each, and that doesn't improve my confidence.

I enjoy the visiting and perusing stores, too (especially now that gasoline has, for now, dropped from $4.00+ a gallon). I also try to get the best price I can (these forums have been very helpful for that).

I'm sure I will do more online shopping in the future (for BDs, and to upgrade my HT - for SURE), but for now, I have bought every BD I own from a B&M (or received them as a gift ).

I live in Delaware - this state is woefully behind on stores carrying Blu-ray movies - almost like none of the 750K+ people understand what it is.

You would think that being as big of a draw as it is with people from PA, NJ and MD crossing the border to shop tax-free, the demand would be greater.

But maybe things like Blu-ray are more "niche" (despite wide spread advertising) and better suited to internet retailers

Yeah, unfortunately they all charge a lot more cause it costs more to run their stores than it does for online sites. I usually never buy in store unless it's an insanely good deal.

FYE has always had horrible prices. Hence many of them are going out of business.
Best Buy prices have gotten better though.

But you will find better prices online (vs street) for almost anything. But the downside of online buying is what keeps some B&M stores adrift. Shipping costs and time, inability to demo a product in person, lack of sales support (except for customer reviews), and lack of spontaneous purchases.

F.Y.E. are the only game in town that buy back your unwanted cd/dvd/blu-rays for hard cash for most residents instead of credit which adds to their shelf space of unwanted junk in their limited floor space. Retail spaces in shopping malls has a much higher rent/cost premium which doesn't help the leasee.

thats a bad comparison, compare a catalog title, alot of the newer releases, etc. they are only matching a sale price. Best Buys reg price is 29.99

Like I said, Amazon is losing, not has lost, it's price advantage.
ALL BDs used to be lower at Amazon, now... not so much.
If I were to be looking for a blu-ray disc, seeing as the price is the same on MANY BDs, I would much rather just go to BB and bring a copy home.

Sure, Amazon has some prices lower, but not all of them like they used to.

Hell, I might go pickup Iron Man today at BB - it's $16.99 - just like at Amazon!

For people like myself that are willing to wait for the order, I normally wait for an order from Amazon or Tower rather than go to Best Buy. Why? For me it is the time and distance - about 1 1/2 hours round trip, plus mileage, wear and tear on the car, and I have to pay tax. When I order from Amazon or Tower, as long as I order over $25.00 I do not pay for shipping and I pay no tax.

That's fine!
The whole time cannot ever be replaced thing is more important to some people than others.
2 days is 2 days.
Ever had an order get delayed? I have... start tacking on more days!

For the small savings, for some of us, it isn't worth it.
YMMV

Actually, No. BB's regular price is 22.99. If it were different, the site would say "Sale", or "See price in cart", or "Now" listed after the msrp. BB is very fair with pricing.

I've never bought anything online because it was cheaper than in store... I've bought online instead of in-store because they've been out of stock of something. But online can be out of stock too (amazon, monoprice etc), and have to wait a few days (or weeks) anyway.

Not to mention, I prefer helping my local community/economy by shopping local.

I almost exclusively purchase BD's from Amazon. Their prices are usually cheaper than B&M stores; there is no sales tax, and free shipping. I only buy from B&M stores when they have big sales...sometimes Fry's has deals that are too good to passs up.

I hope that Amazon gets their pricing structure back in order. Prices keep going up.

new releases... instead of getting them on Tuesday, they ship on Monday from Amazon, and i either have them Tue or Wed... 1 extra day wont kill me, much rather just wait for it to come to my house...
