$22.99 - Amazon

Then there's the "Have it now, Play it now" thing.
When the price is the same or within ~$2 of amazon and there is no wait(other than the 20 minutes to drive home), I'll take Play it now, For The Win, Alex.
thats a bad comparison, compare a catalog title, alot of the newer releases, etc. they are only matching a sale price. Best Buys reg price is 29.99

Keep in mind that FYE is the only MUSIC/DVD/BD store within the mall.

Guess what?

LESS THAN ONE HALF OF ONE SIDE OF ONE AISLE was Blu-ray, and that was it. The rest was CDs, DVDs, video games, etc. There were no other BD displays anywhere, and the New Release shelf that sits in the front of the store was all DVDs, despite the fact that 80-90% of new releases get siamultaneous BD and DVD editions. What in the hell? I was so mad at the pure stupidity of the store that I walked right out. I'm well aware that Blu-ray isn't selling anything like DVD (yet), but come on! At least have a hanging Blu-ray sign (they didn't)!

And also, I couldn't find one BD there under $27.99 (I didn't look for T2 and the other cheap, crappy Lionsgate releases). Most were closer to $40.00, and this is Delaware, a state that doesn't really have much human traffic compared to other Mid-Atlantic states.

My experience today simply solidifies my resolution to buy all BDs from Online Stores. These places deserve to close if they're going to be this stupid.
It always depends on WHERE you are... Deleware will have higher prices. Why?

1. Not much traffic into their stores (like you already stated)
2. They are no-tax on retail, so they jack up some prices on things anyway to make a little more money
3. You went to FYE!!!! Oh my goodness, they already jack up their prices no matter where you are anyway! Just like Sam Goodie and Suncoast, Virgin and other stores to the like.
4. You said there were no other movie stores in the mall. So FYE has an advantage there. Supply and Demand, they have the only movies in the mall so they can charge more for their exclusivity.

-Target is not an electronics store, they're movies/music/software will be more expensive. Same with Sears, Shopko, and anyone else who has an "electronics" section of the store

With Brick and Mortar stores you're best going to Best Buy or Wal-Mart for the best prices.

I'm gonna have to go with online! ½ a year ago I saw Vacancy in a b&m store here in Denmark for $62!!!! I went straight home and ordered the same movie from UK for $15 with 2 day shipping I've bought less than 10 BD in stores, and 6 of them I bought on a trip to the US They have a crazy sale at my local store right now! Only $60 for 2 catalogue BD Besides, BD probably takes up 1/50 of the shelve space at my local stores..! Pretty sad

Like I said, Amazon is losing, not has lost, it's price advantage.
ALL BDs used to be lower at Amazon, now... not so much.
If I were to be looking for a blu-ray disc, seeing as the price is the same on MANY BDs, I would much rather just go to BB and bring a copy home.

Sure, Amazon has some prices lower, but not all of them like they used to.

Hell, I might go pickup Iron Man today at BB - it's $16.99 - just like at Amazon!

For people like myself that are willing to wait for the order, I normally wait for an order from Amazon or Tower rather than go to Best Buy. Why? For me it is the time and distance - about 1 1/2 hours round trip, plus mileage, wear and tear on the car, and I have to pay tax. When I order from Amazon or Tower, as long as I order over $25.00 I do not pay for shipping and I pay no tax.

That's fine!
The whole time cannot ever be replaced thing is more important to some people than others.
2 days is 2 days.
Ever had an order get delayed? I have... start tacking on more days!

For the small savings, for some of us, it isn't worth it.
YMMV

CD Plus will usually do price matching if you ask (at least my local one does). But we usually just go to Future Shop and HMV for the sales anyway... I really have to wonder how some of these stores decide on their pricing. I mean, do they just pay NO attention to what their competition down the street is doing?

Actually, No. BB's regular price is 22.99. If it were different, the site would say "Sale", or "See price in cart", or "Now" listed after the msrp. BB is very fair with pricing.

I've never bought anything online because it was cheaper than in store... I've bought online instead of in-store because they've been out of stock of something. But online can be out of stock too (amazon, monoprice etc), and have to wait a few days (or weeks) anyway.

Not to mention, I prefer helping my local community/economy by shopping local.

I almost exclusively purchase BD's from Amazon. Their prices are usually cheaper than B&M stores; there is no sales tax, and free shipping. I only buy from B&M stores when they have big sales...sometimes Fry's has deals that are too good to passs up.

I hope that Amazon gets their pricing structure back in order. Prices keep going up.

Well, you see that's your problem. You went to F.Y.E, one of the highest priced retailers around, usually set at MSRP. Most of the time even their used BD's are more expensive then say Best Buy, Wal-Mart and Target. Anyone who says they get good deals at F.Y.E doesn't know what a good deal is or they work there and get employee discounts.

well next week I will go to best buy and purchase it just to show that 22.99 isnt the EDLP
I perfer Amazon, if telling yourself BB is cheaper, so be it, this is going nowhere

It actually does say "ON SALE" for that price. BB is 99% always higher than online. Plus taxes, time and gas to get there. Also having to deal with people and waiting in lines. Never fun. The only thing your really supporting when you shop locally, is the business and their bottom line and your state and it's taxes.

i can't believe all the hate for f.y.e. here. i must be lucky i guees. everytime i go into f.y.e. i always find amazing deals on everything i shop for and look at. they're generally better than a lot of online stores. sure, some of their pricesare a little high, but i find they're one of two stores in town that have better prices than anywhere else. especially on their blu-ray prices. best buy sometimes is pretty good too, but i can usually get it cheaper at f.y.e. most of the time. plus with online shopping it can be kind of a crap shoot. delivery times are not perfect and sometimes you don't even get what you ordered. i generally only use online shopping for stuff i cannot get anywhere else.

man where can i get what you're smoking?

FYE is one the most expensive places to buy blu-ray, along w/ Borders and Barnes and Noble... they all sell @ MSRP...

and i dont know what type of shipping/online retailers you use... but my Amazon purchases w/ Prime arrive like clockwork... either Tue or Wed... never had any delays...

I guy most of mine at B&Ms. But people need to realize that different people are in different circumstances. Maybe if I was like naturephoto1
with a 1.5h round trip I might use Amazon more. But for me (In Canada) there is 5$+3$/movie shipping charge and an exchange rate (which usually more then eliminates any benefit) and then added to that longer shipping (usually about a week if in stock) compare that to 4 stores where I can brows and buy BDs (and search for the best price) during my lunch brake at work.

It will be much more inconvenient for me if a package came and I needed to go to th PO to get it because I was not at home (something that has happened)

Some B&Ms are way over priced, others not so much, for some B&Ms are much more inconvenient for others on-line is. I don't understand why people are arguing. Is on-line sometimes better? for sure, is it always? for some it is not often for others it might be more often. Buy where and what makes sense to you.

nope. f.y.e neither barnes and noble does this. i just got u2's rattle and hum at barnes and noble for $9.99. i've never paid msrp at f.y.e. for anything i've bought. they're about the cheapest in town. for online shopping (only when i have to)i use amazon and they've given me a lot of trouble in the past. i have used tower before too and they're really good. but they're higher than hell.
