Since the UK boxset has been reported to have only 10 discs (five 4K and five BD), guess it doesn't come with the extra bonus features that are on the bonus BD discs from the individual US release for MI3, MI4, and MI5?

I found 4 and 5 at Best Buy today, but no sign of the first 3.

I went to my local Best Buy today during my lunch break and I picked up 4 and 5 and Jack Reacher. According to the website, 1 through 3 are only available online. I am going to have order those bad boys now.

Tonight I will watch Ghost Protocol! Looking forward to seeing the improvements overall.

It's still great, all five are great, it just follows the modern trends that probably tick off plenty of people here.
I actually enjoy the transfer for Rogue Nation plenty.

The elevated blacks are only mildly so. And there's still plenty of moments where the blacks get deep enough to provide excellent contrast.

The color grading can feel a bit cranked up in terms of warmth at times--but again, at least nothing to the extent of say, the opening of Peter Jackson's 'King Kong.'

What I like most about Rogue Nation's transfer is, it adheres to the specific visual style McQuarrie had in mind. It's filmic, soft at times, features beautiful anamorphic wide-angled shots in which the aperture settings bring a ton of focus and detail to the center portion of the image. And, during the digitally shot sequences, the HDR and color really pop with vividness and clarity.

It's an awesome transfer. To me, it perfectly encapsulates that old school, 60s-style, 'spy/thriller' aesthetic, that the series quickly deviated from after DePalma's first film.

OMFG.... that clarity improvement. Almost makes me not care about wanting those scenes with the expanded aspect ratio!

I can't wait to watch this tonight.

That's why I love Rogue Nation as much I do (not the UHD, it'll be a few days before I'll get mine, I mean the movie), it really does feel like an old-school spy caper at times and reminds me a lot of De Palma's MI which is still my favourite film in this series. And I'm not an opera fan but I love Nessun Dorma (I blame that World Cup Italia '90) and to have it threaded throughout the movie's score like that is sheer bliss.

Agreed entirely.

That's why Rogue Nation is my favorite of the series--and it's also why I'm happy that McQ came back for Fallout.

He seems to have a really outstanding fundamental understanding for as to how these spy/espionage films work, while also adding a modern touch (his action sequences, especially his chase sequences, are P H E N O M E N A L) that doesn't make the film feel weighted down as a stale, by the numbers blockbuster.

Also, while this isn't the MI: Fallout thread, for what it's worth, I asked McQ on Twitter if he had a chance to see the Dolby Vision grade for the film, and his response was basically an emphatic "holy shit!"

While he's stated that he doesn't have one specific way of preferring to see the film, as he wants the audience members to feel comfortable seeing it any format they desire, he did say he was bias with what he saw with the Dolby grade. Putting it into context, I do think that will be his desired way to experience the film.

Damn... Ordered 1, 3, 4 and 5 off of Amazon. 4 says its shipping towards the end of July or August, and so did the other ones, but 1, 3 and 5 came in today. They came in something that i can only describe as a cardboad bubble mailer, without any bubbles inside so its just like thin cardboard. The slips are wrecked, I'm kinda mad. Never had an Amazon shipment come this way, so thats really way I'm upset, but other than that I'm glad to have them.

I'm generally a fan of opera and Turandot is one of my favorites. Nessun Dorma certainly is an incredibly popular selection from it and I was so glad to hear it featured in this film. That, Rebecca Ferguson and her lovely yellow dress, plus Simon Pegg (I love Benji as a character), and the ode back to the feel of old-school MI made this an incredibly enjoyable movie for me.

RN transfer is lights out. That motorcycle bits warm colours had me drooling. I highly doubt anyone will walk away disappointed with them. Sure they’re expensive but Paramount delivered.

For sure. McQuarrie films certainly has a aesthetic that I absolutely love watching. That even includes films he's didn't direct, but even just having a hand in the filmmaking process, I really, really can appreciate. Probably started around the time of "The Usual Suspects," which he wrote.

To me, he's a much better version of Shane Black.

They both employ that off-kilter, unique style of dark humor. But McQ has so much more visual panache as a director.
