I had honestly forgotten about it till i saw it on sale at BB a few weeks back and so i was excited to watch it, but i wasn't prepared for the connection i felt with the actors right out of the box.

My wife's grandfather was in the war and stationed in England at an airfield. His stories kept running through my mind as i watched the men prepare to leave. I'm thinking of having her watch this with me now as i can only imagine how much greater it's going to get.

I'm now on episode 2 and just freaking floored. Thanks for reminding me to take time for this guys.
that is one thing I never got to speak to my grandfathers about (I had 3 via divorce when my dad was 3 or 4) - they didn't say anything about the war much...my one grandfather talked about welding the ships at the Philly naval yard and guarding a japanese internment camp out west during the war. The other two served in the Navy and both saw Pacific action...just never heard any stories about it before they passed.

I've been checking out the "In the Words of Easy Company" mode, it's a great way to rewatch the series if you've already seen it a couple times. PiP commentary by the surviving members, incredibly interesting - plus you get to see which scenes are based on real events (although so far no indication of which scenes are fiction).

Band of brothers is by far the best in AQ/PQ outside of animation movies. I did get a chance to see 4 episodes. Just watched "Replacements" yesterday.

I love War movies and this is the best for me so far. Will try to watch episode 5 tonight. Glad to know that "The Pacific" is comng soon. Do you guys know when it will be aired on HBO?

Yeah, pretty much the same for me except my grandfather on my mother's side died well before I was even born and my grandfather on my father's side died when I was still a toddler. I'm half German so I would have gotten to hear from men on each side of the war.

That's how I've been watching this the first time through on Blu-ray. I've seen the series so many times on DVD that this was a great new way to watch it. One more episode to go, then I'll probably watch it the normal way so that i get the full effect of the sound and immersed in the story.

Popped in the first disc last night just to see how much better it was on Blu and I was not disappointed. The Blu-ray version blows the dvd version away! PQ looked really good and the AQ was great as well. Can't wait to rewatch this series!

Anyone split these up into regular Blu-ray cases? I'm thinking about doing so and looking for some nice covers.

Also, did anyone else see that the actor that played Guarnere is on 24 this season?
he was also in Righteous Kill... hes my favorite character in BoB

I think the set is amazing, however I don't think it's the "best" although for audio and picture quality, there is no doubt it's Demo material for sure!!!!

throughout the series you'll notice in different episodes the film makers use different film or video techniques.. so the grain you're seeing is normal.

there are certain scenes where it looks like they had to use back-up shots and the quality gets grainy...doesn't happen very often but it is there

Friends boy's *promotion* is very grainy, as are some others. The scene with Winters at the outdoor cafe in Paris looked straight outta Munich.

We watched 5 & 6 last night. That first explosion in Bastogne scared the crap outta me.

Just received mine yesterday. Gotta say, even if you are not a fan of fancy packaging, you have to admit that they went top shelf on this one. Very high quality and very artistic and thematic. Well done.
