Sweet! People forget that the books are a franchise - there's like 5-6 novels, so why not another film? It did make a lot of money.

First was very average with very little suspense. But I'm always happy to see more Jason Statham films

Yes, in the books the Megs are guarding Cthulhu while he slumbers until its time for his return (Book 3).

I think i liked the idea of a "Mega Jaws with Statham" pitch for the first movie and would have preferred they keep that going rather than some supernatural twist. I think a "another Meg" escaped and went somewhere else and stayed under the radar and now they hunt it has more potential. Still seems difficult to see how they're gonna top the first for action considering how it was all presented.

I hope they have the villains from the Trench but that novel can't fill a whole movie. Hoping they include the aquarium in the plot though and some if the scenes from the first book that were left out of the movie.
