Default Strange packaging defect with Bond Blu Rays...anybody else had this problem?

I recently bought Live and Let Die Blu Ray limited edition Steelbook.

As far as I know this release is supposed to be a single disc release only. When I opened up the package, there is slots for 2 discs, but there is only one disc. I'm assuming this is some type of rare packaging defect from the warehouse and they just used the wrong type of disc packaging?

Anybody else ever run into this problem?

I put it down to cost cutting. Why go out there way and make cases specifically for each release on most titles.

I went digging through some old threads on this forum. Apparently this is a common defect with Bond Blu Ray steelbook packaging.

All the other Bond steelbooks I have contain the correct packaging. Now my Live and Let Die is going to stick out like a redheaded bastard stepchild in my Bond collection.

MGM must know how anal people like me are about consistency? Sure I'll go out and spend another $38 on a new copy just so I don't have to look at this ugly case.

What difference does it make? The cases look the exact same on the outside. Who cares if there is an extra slot when you open the case?

I agree. 2 of the 4 I have are with the extra disc holder. It is much easier to get the disc off the retainer with the 2 disc ones than it is the single disc. The single disc ones feel like I'm going to bend the disc too much to get them off.

Aren't they identical on the outside? Jeez louise! If it was showing external damage, that would be one thing. But you truly do need professional help.

I think you hit the nail on the head there, what does it really matter?

How much time do you spend looking at your cases as opposed to actually watching the film inside?

I think I would be much more concerned if I had scratched or dented the outer case, which would near on impossible to replace.

I care about the total package when it comes to my Blu-ray's. Cover art, disc art, menu design, pop-up menu design, as well as PQ and AQ are all important factors to me.

If my copy of From Russia With Love has this defect I will return it. Then my search for a correct version will begin.

I agree it's nice to have all the above, but it's not a deal breaker.

From what I have read on here, this is not a defect, just something which happens at the manufacturing stage, some get a single disc holder, others a double.

I have to say, If I were a retailer, I would not accept a Blu back for this reason as it is fit for purpose. All that would happen is a number of perfectly good disc returned, which are now effectively second hand.

Enjoy the film and try not to think too hard about the double disc holder as opposed to a single in the box.

And I suppose that would make me just the anal customer that would stand there and argue with you and make a scene in the middle of the store if you refused to return the disc for this reason

Ahaha I love those discs. For Quantum of Solace CE on PS3 I nearly had to call in a construction crew to get the disc off the spindle.

Indeed sir I do. Some people are starving in the world and struggle to find food and clean water every day. I sit here on my laptop computer and go to some website and complain about how my Collector's Edition Blu Ray disc is not up to my standards. The world sucks doesn't it?

I mean seriously a multi-billion dollar corporation that produces DVDs and BluRays like Sony or MGM or whoever has no excuse for such poor quality control and inconsistency. They spend millions of dollars on this technology to restore all these movies frame by frame and in the end they can't even put the disc into the right damn case. I find that hilarious.

I mean when you spend about $30 or $40 on a movie you could get on DVD for $5 at Wal Mart, you should expect a little something in return, am I right?

If I had to, I would claim the disc did not play correctly in my player. Which I have done in the past for instances such as this.

Happened to one of mine, I'm too lazy to look to see which one. But I dislike it very much. The way the two disc holder is also sucks.

All of my bought steelbooks had the 2 disc slots inside. I just put my DVD versions of the movies in the empty slot. Save some cabinet space.
