For you camera geeks reading, people are rating the Venice at EI 400 with a latitude in the highlights of 4 stops and 2.5 in the shadows which is ~ 6.5 stops beyond the dynamic range of the charts.

I stuck with HDR10 for a couple of weeks until I discovered the black level = 49 fix for the grey bar problem on the ZD9. That was several weeks ago, I've been been watching stuff in DV ever since.

People or crew on the set often sell "illicit" snaps to tabloid rags all the time. If it's a locked production, they can be kicked off or fired if caught.

On my Oled, I am only able to regain perfect black by lowering brightenss to 47, and by then I lose too much detail. Even at 48 blacks already glow in dark room

No problemo , as we’re a versatile bunch here. Info for your pleasure -

following the US Navy's retirement of its Tomcats in 2006, some air force still has those old F-14 jets in service - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SdAtYKJgxS4#t=1m40s

on the other hand, more modern fighter jets with mission capable weapon systems –

Anyhow, filming for Top Gun: Maverick at this location in the valley wrapped today, so regular patrons (hailing by motorsickle or car) can come for eats, I’d imagine starting tomorrow. Support the ownership, good people.

Also, calling out THE SUN with regards to “Tom Cruise has put filming for the Top Gun sequel on hold so he can learn to PILOT his jet fighter stunts” (https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbi...ighter-stunts/) as, on the contrary, since the time of that article one can easily surmise from reading past posts on this thread starting around p.366 that filming has indeed continued unabated in Santa Clarita, Pxxxxxxx (where the public service announcement about video interpolation was also shot) and South Lake Tahoe, both in a state park and in/around the local airport.

Fact
of the matter is, filming will continue unimpeded until Spring 2019. Extra time needed causing the delayed release date of June 2020 is not due to Tom desiring to learn to fly non-militarized jets, but rather to help make the motion picture more authentic.

It will take additional time for the filmmakers to learn and integrate into the imagery as to how things have changed (since the old days of Top Gun with the Tomcat and for example the AIM-54 Phoenix Missile system (https://www.navy.mil/navydata/fact_d...0&tid=700&ct=2) what with F/A-18F Super Hornet, F/A-35C Lightning II fighter and attack jets, etc. now more current.

Not only supersonic multirole combat jets, but other aspects of military aviation have progressed including, for example, new possible weapon implementations on the horizon (a short development process would allow the SM-6 to be qualified for Super Hornet use by 2020), e.g. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPK3l2YGzrE#t=8s

Does this mean they are re-writing (parts of) the story? Or they need extra time for visual effects?
(ps I'm not surprise the Sun was wrong; nasty tabloid that it is)

Hmm, Russian suits are a close echo of Rebel Battle of Hoth flight suits.
Any conspiracy theorists here? Discuss.

huh?....well, I’ve heard of Homs, but is that some other city in the Syrian theater somehow involved with a past aviation engagement?
