That has to be a new thing; I used my Amazon card on Amazon.co.jp when I lived there and it never had any kind of discount. It just switched the currency over (I don't remember there being "amazon currency converter" at the time since this was back in 13, I think it just did it and didn't charge me a fee on the statement).

Region Free but 50Hz so it depends on your equipment whetehr it will play

My Region-Free Blu-Ray player has an NTSC-PAL converter built into it, if that's what you mean. My TV is a Samsung Smart TV but the player I have here's a converted Sony player with Region-Free software and an NTSC-PAL converter.

Not really a Pal/NTSC thing, but if you have a Region Free player you're fine.
Most people with Samsung, LG, OPPO then you're 99% likely to be fine whether they're 50Hz or not. If you have a non modded prePS4 Sony you are likely not OK

It isn't a Sony PS3 or PS4. Just a dedicated Blu-Ray unit I got from a shop that soft-modded it. I have gotten some international Region Free releases that seem to be fine.

If it plays PAL DVDs nearly 100% it has 50Hz capability for bluray. Not entirely what softmodding is (??firmware), but making something region free without multifrequency capability would seem nonsensical on many fronts

I ordered mine from 220 Electronics. They usually do a lot of different players from major manufacturers (Sony, LG, Samsung, etc). They do have some 4K and 3D units too. And the switching between regions is easy. You usually just have to hold one of the buttons down on the remote as per the instructions so the player powers off, then on, with the correct region coding. No limit.

And it supposedly has internal PAL-NTSC conversion, so it should be able to interpret content just fine.

Yeah, I think I will be fine. I just usually prefer releases that are Region A or Free to avoid problems. The only one that's true B is one of my Lost seasons. And I do hope this series IS region free. Nearly everyone outside of the forum has been saying B/2.

I love my Sony BD650 region-free player, I always try to favor imported Region B bluray just to be able to use it in Region B mode
