Default Error in Pioneer Instructions

Hi. I initially had the same problem as the poster above with the update not starting, so I tried something that turned out to solve the problem. After you download the zipped file, you have to open the resulting folder and copy only the folder entitled "Update" to the memory stick. If you copy the external folder that starts with PDP . . ., the update won't start.
Good luck, everyone.

The update just completed successfully on my 5020. Everything seems fine, the Tech Info screen shows the new firmware number.

Before I install the update, can anyone confirm whether your calibrated settings stays put after the update? I've done some RBG value changes with ControlCAL and would hate to see it revert back to factory setting.

Sheedoe,
I'll check that for you in a few minutes. I'm waiting for my channel search to finish. I should mention that I'll only be able to check basic settings on Contrast/Brightness and the like.

Sheedoe, after updating, all of my prior settings are unaffected. That includes things like Contrast and Brightness for particular inputs. I haven't done any changes with ControlCal, however. Hope that helps.

I did just copy the folder entitled "Update". Each and every time, nothing happened with the memory stick to load anything onto my TV. That was a total of 6 times and 6 failures.

I wonder if your USB port is reading properly. Have you tried using it to view photos copied to the memory stick? Or did you try a different stick, if you have a second one?

I only have the one memory stick. I have never tried to load photos onto the TV. Also, and I can not comment that it may be that I have the PRO-111FD. As I said the Pioneer Rep had the same problem loading on their PRO-111FD (but theirs had the current Firmware).

I d/l the 28mb file onto a usb thumb drive and connected it to my 5020FD. The TV finds the USB drive, but it gives me an error when I click on it. Is there something I need to do to access this file?

I'm having the same problem as Naturephoto1 on my PDP-5020FD. I think the TV just doesn't like the USB key I'm using. I'll grab another one from work tomorrow and give it a shot.

The USB drive that doesn't work for me is a 2 GB OCZ Rally 2. What size and brand of USB drive are you using Nature?

Initially I used a OCZ flash drive which didn't work. Now it's working with a SanDisk Cruzer and seems to be working fine ATM. Have to wait and see if the update finishes.
