Default Walkabout -1971 - Umbrella Entertainment

This is as already out in shops, local city jb store had a number of copies . Unfortunately it seems it is bare bones and has no extras(no mention on back cover of them) . I guess criterion wanted too much money for some or all of the extras which their terrific release has.
I will be keeping my criterion release and not bothering with the umbrella one.

JB site states there is a Commentary
As I’ve mentioned elsewhere if this was the original cut I would’ve bought it

The Criterion HD extras make Criterion the definitive release.

The Janus logo plays at the start. There is no main menu, the commentary is accessible only from in play, no subtitles. It does have a reversible insert and plays on a region A player.

Umbrella loves to do this. I bought the DVD of Playing Beatie Bow and it was like the burned an mp4 file to a disc.

Would that mean they've used the same source as the Criterion?

Only an assumption, but yes.

I did a quick A/B with the Criterion on a few scenes and in motion they looked identical. I didn't scan the discs for bit rate comparison and don't know if it is a direct port or Umbrella tinkered with the transfer.
