I truly don't understand why Warner isn't issuing this, but we're getting the 98 movie instead from Sony. Just bizarre.

Agree 100%. The Emmerich movie is the rare movie where I felt like I wasted part of my life I’d like to get back.

I wonder if there is some sort of rights issue or something with the 2014 movie. It is strange indeed.

It will likely get announced closer to the date of the next film being released or for the home video release of the next film.

My thinking is they feel if they release 2014 Godzilla in UHD first then no one will buy 1998 Godzilla UHD. So release that one first...get the 4K maniacs to buy and then release the one that people actually want.

I really doubt Warner gives a shit about Sony's '98 Godzilla...

Sony was just smarter than Warner and released their version to milk the upcoming movie.

Why didn’t Godzilla 2014 get a 4K release? I mean Kong Skull Island did? Makes no sense.

Unlike with Kong Skull Island 4K blu rays didn't exist back when Godzilla got its initial home video release.
It's weird that they didn't release Godzilla now to tie in with the new Godzilla movie however.

They missed the sales from people that want to revisit it before watching the new one. Stupid Warner.
I guess they will release the UHD along the sequel in 4 months or so or it's never coming out

For sure. For some reason they're focusing on DC now but I hope once they're done with Batman they do Godzilla. It should be an easy HDR pass to do.

Watched this last night in prep for the sequel. Gotta say I enjoyed it more than I remembered, and that DTS-HD soundtrack is amazing. Lots of very deep, bone rattling bass. Echoing others surprise that Warner didn't re-release this to coincide.

The only way they can redeem themselves is to release the 2014 version around the same time the sequel releases on 4K.

I find this lack of a release completely absurd and outrageous on Warner Bros' part. I mean, its not even on any rumor lists, or retailer leaks, or anything for later this year. At all. It's like it doesn't exist.

I hope we get it with KOTM on UHD later this year, but I'm not really holding my breath anymore. It seems MIA at this point...

Given Godzilla: KOTM vastly underperformed at the Box Office, I am thinking we wont see the 2014 Godzilla movie any time soon on 4K UHD Blu-ray.

My guess is that Warner Bros. is in damage control, hoping Godzilla vs. Kong won't completely bomb at the Box Office next year, and then they will move on from the "Monsterverse".

This is NOT the bump you were hoping for - sorry - but yesterday I completed a survey for WB through their A-List program and this title was among a handful being discussed for possible release.

I ranked it as my top choice in each of the 16 waves they had me rank.

Other titles included The Lost Boys, RoboCop (1987), The Exorcist, The Perfect Storm, The Mask, Casablanca, Gone with the Wind, and about a dozen or so more.

Nice to see WB listening to home video fans just as Sony is doing. Hopefully this title makes the cut.

That is amazing to hear! Robocop is particularly fascinating since that's an MGM title, suggesting that perhaps Warner may issue UHD releases as part of this new distribution deal.

Maybe they're waiting for Godzilla vs Kong to release both standalone Godzilla 2014 UHD and Godzilla / Kong quadrilogy?

From what he said, it’s only available to A-List members.
