This happened before with titles such as Dead Man reverting back to director Jim Jarmusch from Miramax, and since Criterion has a knack for Soderbergh, i'm sure these will see a reissue someday..
A number of Soderbergh's smaller titles have also reverted to his personal control, he's talked about this in interviews. He has mentioned KAFKA, FULL FRONTAL, BUBBLE and THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE. He has been recutting KAFKA on and off for a couple of years (and dubbing the whole thing into German), he says he intends to eventually release a special edition with both cuts.

Since he and Tatum personally financed MAGIC MIKE's $7 million production cost, and became wealthy off this, it's highly likely it'll revert back to him at some point too (if it hasn't already).

CONTAGION was financed by Participant though, along with Imagenation Abu Dhabi (I'm pretty sure this was partly due to a major plot line set in the UAE (though not filmed there) that was completely removed from the finished film).

As you pointed out, Warner is still streaming both films, but streaming rights and BD rights aren't necessarily 100% overlapping.

Thing is, film studios these days are latching onto streaming more than physical. So for instance, a title produced by other parties that they merely distributed and wasn't a big deal or bombed at the BO, said distributor will likely have the lease for streaming rights far longer than for Theatrical/TV/Video.

Of course Magic Mike was a monstrous hit, and Contagion was a sizable hit too. That said, I agree, anyone who was going to buy them on BD has long since done so, it would make sense to let them go OOP and revert to the people who financed them, if that's what has happened.

Even though both were hits, it's possible Warner only has a set amount of time on their distribution rights being they were produced and financed by outside parties.

Hard to find around here as well. Amazon.ca for one doesn't have any except 3rd party.

Those AB titles really can balloon overnight. Black Knight used to be pretty cheap a few months ago.

Pretty sure it's missing the commentary from reading the thread on that. Pretty sure the US is the only version with the commentary which was being described as "hilarious" and "great" in the thread.

Apparently it's bare when it comes to features. There's something on the US release only. It's either a doc or a commentary, can't remember.

All I know is I want the damn US release blu-ray. Am I seriously going to have to message sellers before purchasing to ask now? Because it'll have the UPC and the picture as What We Do In The Shadows US blu-ray but they'll still send the Canadian blu-ray or the UK region B blu-ray

Does this new entry for What We Do in the Shadows mean that it's getting a reprinting/rerelease? https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/What-...lu-ray/241387/

I recently bought one off eBay, it has no artwork and lists the UK UPC, then it also lists the US UPC... so I asked then, they said it's the US release. I'm still waiting for it to be delivered. Was SUPPOSED to arrive this past Saturday, but it was missent to a city 15 minutes away and then Monday it was sent to Memphis, TN... then to Atlanta, GA.. I'm in AL so why they couldn't have just sent it to a Birmingham sorting facility makes no sense at all. If it's the US release one I'll let you know.

Seems so, but as a BD-R... Might as well not have released it lol

Same here. We'll probably feel foolish if/when this ends up being only temporarily OOP, but I had a $15 eBay gift card I only paid $10 for (or something like that), so the movie didn't cost me too much out the door. Just hope the seller is reliable, etc. I hardly ever use eBay. Didn't want to miss out on a childhood favorite though, even if it does end up getting reissued by Sony or re-released by Mill Creek, Kino, or whoever.

I found a copy of Roxanne at Big Lots about a year or so ago and gave it to my mother as a gift. So, if you have a store near you it's worth checking.

It has 100 minutes of special features, but not the commentary, which from what I've read is the best special feature of all. It's going back, especially with the rumors of a rerelease.

The re-release is a BD-R.
