I know Criterion has lost the rights to many films we'd like to see from them, but I believe the ones I listed are all still active in their DVD production - when do they get to move into the 21st Century?

Highly suggest going region free with your next player if you don't have one already.

Great Expecations, Oliver Twist, Floating Weeds, La Strada, and Hobson's Choice all have good to great BD releases in the UK.

I especially recommend the Floating Weeds disc from Eureka/Masters Of Cinema.

Same here. I didn't have the Amazon credit, so $64 for me. $16 each, however, is still a damn fine deal. Of course the flimsy slipbox arrived damaged. Not a big deal as I was planning on putting these on the shelf individually anyways.

It’s also helpful for UK releases that are cheaper and/or better in quality than a Criterion version.

Yeah, this was a pretty sweet deal. I think I'll do the same (chuck the flimsy box) since it doesn't really serve a purpose. The BD cases are all regular sized.

It varies back and forth but yes it's nice to have import options when a new scan or better encode becomes available. Criterion is loathe to upgrade existing disc/transfers outside of box set collections.

Recently picked up Tree Of Wooden Clogs from Arrow Academy due to the vastly superior color grading. Time Bandits as well for its slightly better encode and wider array of bonus features. Oh, and who could forget the AA limited edition Dekalog box from a few years ago? Glad to see that one getting a standard edit for those who missed out.

Awesome. Seems like this "lost" Welles masterwork's debut on Netflix last year flew pretty well under the radar. This upcoming Criterion release should help to raise its profile a bit.

Yes, Ryan’s Daughter would be a most welcome addition.

I'm hoping Polyester gets announced on Wednesday.

I also can't wait for The Other Side of the Wind. I really loved that movie and the doc that Netflix premiered along with it. It's a fascinating tale, with a solid outcome.

Definitely long-overdue an authorized release. The Spanish bootleg (that I mistook for the real thing when I bought it) is actually pretty decent, and a tantalizing glimpse at how good the film could look on BD.

It debuted at Venice. Multiple film periodicals had features on it, and it got plenty of coverage in non-specialized periodicals like the NY Times. Every film critic I know of weighed in on it to some degree. It was on dozens best of 2018 lists: http://www.wellesnet.com/other-side-wind-best-2018/

Netflix is really good at burying their acquisitions, but this... this was definitely not an "under the radar" release.

Hoping we get After Hours soon. Also Bamboozled. Hope they don't wait a year to release it since the are going to release Do the Right Thing Soon.

Also, PLEASE let their be a Japanese film or two. Still waiting for Hunter in the Dark and Criterion would totally make my year if they get this title out.

Why would they wait a year? They just announced two Bruno Dumont releases in the same month. I think they'd release two Spike Lee's in back-to-back months.
