I looked the episodes up and Orci and Kurtzman also worked on some of those episodes and they are worse than Abrams so I am just declaring them flukes. Abrams being awful still stands.

With his record of jumpstarting rebooted franchises (Mission Impossible, Star Trek, Star Wars), I can totally seeing him doing it. Plus, he has worked with Matt Reeves before, so...
