Question no subwoofer output?

Hi, I have an ol' AIWA 5.1 receiver with a 60W powered subwoofer that one day decides not to output any audio (Just when I get a Top Gun BD). I tried swapping the RCA cable with another but there is still nothing.
When I hold the RCA plug near the receiver's terminal, a loud buzz comes from the subwoofer, so I'm assuming there is a signal going through.
Is there another way to test which component is in error before I splurge on another subwoofer (or receiver? )

Check to make sure on the receiver settings that you have subwoofer (yes) selected.

If the receiver has pre outs you might be able to connect the RCA cable from the sub to one of the other channels to see if the sub reproduces some of that sound. The pre outs should be a similar power level as the sub out, I believe.

And if you haven't tried a different cable you should start with that.

It turns out that is indeed the solution. I don't remember it resetting to off before, even with a power outage; and the activation method isn't obvious on the receiver model.
But thanks very much for the tip!
