5/5, an absolute masterpiece. Thematically and in actual execution, I'd put this on par with Russian Doll, one of my favorite series this year. Paul Rudd has never been better, effortlessly switching from comedy to drama to existential terror, sometimes in the same scene, sometimes giving us multiple layers from multiple characters simultaneously. Miles & Miles are always dressed differently, but you can tell which is which even with your eyes closed.
Rudd gives a powerhouse performance that absolutely should be in the running for next year's Emmys. Supporting cast is also excellent, especially Aisling Bea as a woman struggling to make things work with her husband, only to find that she now has two. Writing & direction are top-notch as well, frequently hitting that sweet/romantic/weird/creepy vibe that Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind did so well. Netflix's series division is on a roll this year; Living with Yourself is yet another triumph for the streaming service. |

I think I've seen this episode of Buffy. It was called "The Replacement".

I binged this last night, and enjoyed it. I was thinking the show would take a deep dive into the philosophy of the self, so I was a bit disappointed when that didn't happen. The new Miles is stuck in an existential crisis from the moment he learns the truth, but that's barely ever talked about. He's lived no life, everything in his brain is a lie, yet we only get snippets of conversation about that. Meanwhile, the original Miles is paranoid about being replaced Body Snatchers style. We mostly have to infer what they're thinking through their actions, which left me wanting more. That says less about the show and more about my expectations, but I felt like it was a missed opportunity.
My only big, objective complaint concerns the set piece with the FDA. That felt like it belonged in an entirely different show, and desperately needed a rewrite. Also, watching this was a reminder of why I like physical discs. Netflix on my setup is stuttery, compressed garbage. Anyway, if you like the themes in Blade Runner, Counterpart, The Good Place, Dollhouse, and all the other stuff mentioned on this thread, you'll probably find this good, even if it's not great. Also, I read a bunch of reviews complaining that Living With Yourself isn't funny, which I found bizarre. There are jokes, but it's not a comedy. |

Finished last night. I loved it and would watch again. Not as good as Santa Clarita Diet, but still really great.
Like pigmanjoe, my only complaint was the FDA stuff. Totally out of place and did not need to be included at all. Both of the FDA characters were over the top and completely cringe-worthy. @thecooldude, I too was heavily reminded of Xander's split in Buffy. "Kill us both, Spock!" ![]() |

I use netflix and I like it alright but it is a little baffling sometimes because they have some movies on their and not others
case in point they have ghostbusters 2 but not ghostbusters what the hell? |
