I have yet to see my disc in full, but I didn't notice any sync issues when I checked a few scenes yesterday.

Not a single sync issue on the UHD. It’s probably just like every UHD disc where certain players have issues.

Man it's bizarre watching the extended cut of this, firstly because I never knew there was an extended/international cut and secondly, the extra scenes are really unnecessary, but I'll watch more of the masterpiece that is this film anyway! Just wish the theatrical cut had been included

In some parts of the world THIS was the theatrical cut and it was the one Kubrick released first. |

No syncing issues for me, don't pass on this one. I'd say its an absolutely essential disc for any 4k collection.

That brightness thing people are talking about could be ABSL (I think that’s the abbreviation for it). It’s a setting in the service menu that’s enabled. It makes the set dim if it’s on a scene for too long. It’s supposed to protect against burn in. I shut mine off right after I got the set and it’s been fine ever since. You just need to be more careful about leaving static images up for long periods of time. Shots in movies won’t be a problem but menu screens and the like could be an issue. I’ve never had a problem though. Don’t remember how to turn it off but you have to access the service menu. You can look it up. You will need a harmony remote to do it though.

I don't prefer either cut over the other. They've both got their pro's and con's imo.
For me the perfect cut would be somewhere in-between. With that being said though, I do lean more towards the European cut purely because the American Cut has so much unnecessary exposition that makes the film drag like crazy. The stuff regarding Jack's alcoholism and the more in-depth stuff regarding Tony shouldn't have been cut out though. |
