klipsch subs as you would expect are nice, but you will probably get more bang for your buck going with another brands sub.

any suggestions? audioadvisor has the Velodyne - SPL-1000R on sale for 699.00 and was 1699.00 msrp. they are small but appear to produce nice lows. also, hear elemental designs were good too.

thx!!

I was contemplating upgrading to this same sub from my RW-12d... basically decided the money could be better spent elsewhere. I would take a look at the RSW-10d or the RW-12d before looking at a sub that far up the line

i own 2 of the rt-10d's along with the rest of the reference speakers and they just rock.i have a large room that's why i needed 2 of them.for some reason alot of people on here give the klipsch speakers good marks but never the reference subs.if you have a place you can demo them try that before you buy.i've had alot of people tell me they get more sub for there money for what these cost but when i look at what they bought it's mid grade too me so if you can get it for $799 that's a great price .i paid $1000 each for mine from www.abtelectronics.com i hope this helps.

For roughly the same price I would recommend any of the following over the Klipsch sub:

AV123 MFW-15-$699
eD A7S-450-$775
Epik Vanquish-$699
HSU VTF-3 MK3-$699
SVS PB12-NSD-$569
SVS PC12-NSD-$569

Some of these will have shipping charges, but the eD ships for free, and it's a safe bet any will outperform the Klipsch.

I would agree, but I would get two A2 300s for $700 or even three for $1000 before I got a sub that cost $1800

I agree with this wholeheartedly. Don't go with Klipsch subs simply because your speakers are Klipsch. You don't have to timbre-match subwoofers.

thanlks for all the replies. i guess klipsch is not getting the best reviews on subs. the only reason i brought up the rt-10 is because vanns has them brand new, from authorized dealer, for 799.00 w/ free shipping. doesn't seem like a bad deal for a sub that goies for 1799.00....but may go with one of the ed models.

If not the eD, the AV123 ranks up quite high on the subwoofer rankings list (don't have the link on hand).

I would still rather pay a few dollars and get a Klipsch sub whether you say its sup par for the money or nay. I am happy with my RW-10D I could only imagine what the RT-10 sounds like for that money. I like the fact that all the reference speakers look the same in my system too just how I am I guess. But whatever you decide to get I am sure it'll be pretty amazing nonetheless!

I agree there is alot better subs out there as with all things in life, but i also like the Klipsch line, looks , customer service and the thing that makes my mind up is that I have had over 4 different Klipsch systems and not one of them has ever failed me or gone bad, and they hold thier resale value too for selling or trading,, I also have the orginal Klipsch RW-10 sub got it for $330.00 at a hi fi shop and its a awesome little sub , for my size room , the only thing I want to do is upgrade to the RW-12d someday when times are better,
Now my friend that owns a Hi Fi shop offered me the RW-10T for $1,100.00 which is still to much , he told me that Klipsch discontuined them and all dealers get a kick back on what they payed, I told him they are selling eveywhere for $799.00 ea, wow he said, My self would love to have this model but for my room I have no conner's open to ues , so I will stick with a front firring sub for now, which I seem to like better anyways,,,But to all you need to go listen to A klipsch sub before buying it, this will help you decide if you like it or not,,,Just my OPN,,

You do not need a Klipsch subwoofer to match your Klipsch speakers. In fact, that is a very unwise decision. Most speaker companies will specialize in speakers and most subwoofer companies will specialize in subwoofers. The speaker companies that offer "matching" subwoofers are usually overpriced for what you get. For significantly less you can get two far superior subwoofers, like the A2-300. If that is too much, a Martin Logan Dynamo would be another example of a far superior subwoofer than Klipsch's subwoofers. The same can be said for companies like Polk as well for subwoofers.
