I liked Tearaway but the trailers for this didn't look that interesting to me. I guess I'll wait to see how people here like it.

I suddenly remembered S.E.U.C.K. from my childhood, it was astonishing that you could create your own ships and graphics. Different times. |

This was never on my radar, but seeing that it’s $40, made me look more into it and I think I’ll go for it
For me it would be like a random game compilation, so should be ‘long term’ game (if it caught on). knowing I can play it on ps5 helps Last edited by Talal86; 02-15-2020 at 10:35 AM. |

Way above and beyond anything else people are allowing to be done. Even in Fortnite with their creative mode they locked you into the core game mechanics but here, the developer of each experience chooses whether you play in a certain style. It's amazing what potential it has. I will buy in eventually on a price drop. |

I'd like to create an open world adventure game to explore first. Maybe a driving game, a fighting game, puzzle game, arcade style game, etc. I believe the graphics will limit the style, but since it's a PS4 game, that's fine. They suggested it'll have a PSVR update for the game eventually, so that helps too. EDIT: So far, I'm playing the main story line, about a Bass musician, who quit a band and is having nightmares about rejoining. The graphics are very stylized and nicely done, and the story is interesting, but slowly paced aside from the platforming games, set in an isometric point of view so far, where you play as tiny animal cartoon characters, which is odd, since it doesn't match the theme of the musician, who is tall and a whole different visual style. I'm interesting in seeing how the game progresses. There's a logo constantly onscreen in the lower right, that says "Made in Dreams", which suggests the player can create their own game on par with this, but I have yet to discover the tools in the creative section of the game, which is accessible right away. During the game though, there are orbs that your blob icon character can grab and collect, probably for some purpose later to unlock new stuff. Good so far, though my only challenge is there are orbs high above the ground, and because this game isn't in stereo 3D as with the PSVR, it's tough to get a sense of where in the isometric space the orbs are as the cartoon bear jumps to try to catch them with my controller. The controls are otherwise good, with good game play. There are some Q&A segments, some minor puzzle solving, and timed puzzles. More to learn about this game as I progress. I've been fiddling around with Dreams and can honestly say I haven't had this much fun learning something in quite a while. The main story was interesting and kept in intrigued enough that I finished it in two sittings. I do recommend that anyone picking this up should play through the tutorials. Usually, I just skip stuff like that but I'd say they are almost a must in this game.
During and after the tutorials you can mess around and create some interesting things. You also have the option to go into other player's created projects and utilize those for your projects. Right now I'm trying to focus on landscapes. Eventually, I'd like to make a character that walks through a Bob Ross painting. As for cons I've only really ran into 2 things so far and those may just be personal taste things. The first thing I had to do was change my controller setting from motion to stick. My character was bouncing all over the screen. I just couldn't do it. The sticks are very responsive and I haven't had any issues since doing that. The other thing is jumping in the game. Sometimes during the story I would miss jumping on platforms or hitting orbs that I thought I was lined up for. I always seemed to be in front of or behind the object. I think it has something to do with the camera angle on those side jumps but I couldn't put my finger on it. |

I still haven't tried to create anything but I did fool around with some of the user created content last night. It was basically as I expected. A few decent creations but I mostly waded through a ton of half-baked janky shit to find anything worth my time. The curation of the user-created content will be vital to keep people interested in this. MM had better keep all the stuff worth checking out at the forefront because I can see gamers quickly losing interest if they have to play some of the garbage I tried out last night. I'm going to finish up Arts Dream tonight and if I have time I'll start trying out the creation tools. I'm still skeptical at just how successful this is going to be long term.

Well it was the trailers for Tearaway that got me to get it. I pretty much ignored all the creation stuff except when it was required to proceed. I guess Dreams is more on the user creation side. In any case I think I'll probably wait for VR, but yeah all I would be interested in is the base campaign.

Tearaway was a game with some creative stuff in the story. Dreams is not a game, it's a tool and the story is basically just a demo that acts as a showcase. Or that's what I assume, haven't played the story mode at all as I jumped straight into creating my own stuff.
