This is great news. Better to go for the TV series route rather than a movie.
Had it been a movie I would've been so picky and analytical. And as we know video game movies aren't usually the best. With a TV series they can really have room to explore more. |

Agreed. If done right this could be a hit the size of Game of Thrones. This could virtually be HBO's Walking Dead, and it will do Walking Dead better than Walking Dead does Walking Dead.

Dont do this to me, OP, don't give me hope for this.

Interesting if I'm not mistaken the game was supposedly going to be a movie but it was stuck in development hell cool that it will be a series on HBO and the fact the game creator wants to be involved to make sure it is done right which is one of the many problems when it comes to video game made into movies.

Oh I definitely would want this series to end before it overstays its welcome unlike TWD, and hopefully delivers an ending that satisfies fans unlike GOT.

This is going to be bigger than Game of Thrones!!!
My vote is for Antony Star. He seems to fit perfectly in any movie game male character ffs. And she can be Jane Levy or something!!! Last edited by scifisuperfan; 03-05-2020 at 11:10 PM. |

Also, remember HBO apparently turned down Darabont's pitch for the Walking Dead. So this would be a great opportunity for HBO to get a post-apocalyptic zombiesque series. I assume it'll be a limited series like Watchmen and Outsider.

I'm down for an adaptation of the game, but I feel Hollywood has really cannibalized "The Last of Us" over the years. I guess it wasn't a wholly original property in the first place (basically "The Road" with mutants/zombies and more action). "A Quiet Place" is essentially a clicker movie. "Logan" has the same dynamic with Joel/Ellie and Logan/X-23. "Annihilation" has those weird mutants. "Leave No Trace" has the same sort of look. Not to mention all of "The Walking Dead". "The Last of Us" will just feel tiresome at this point.
Not sure about the casting. I did think of Hugh Jackman a few years ago, but he's already done this with "Logan". I thought Kaitlyn Dever would make a great Ellie back when she was on "Justified", but she's too old now. |
