For those that have redeemed and viewed the 4k digital copies, are they the same as Disney Plus or are they slightly better on Vudu and or Movies Anywhere?

Watching Phantom Menace for the first time in at least 15 years.

...it’s as bad as I remember.

I don't dislike The Phantom Menace. I just think it's dull for the most part. It's one of those films I feel somewhat nostalgic for, and there are elements of it which are genuinely great, but whenever I've rewatched it, I just wind up bored.

Good new is all discs appear to be in great condition.

Bad news is there are no scratches on Attack of the Clones.

...which means I may have to watch it.

Phantom Menace is the only good prequel, just barely.

Once, I watched the movie and just skipped over all the Anakin/Padme scenes. It became all about Obi-Wan, and it was pretty enjoyable that way.

Revenge is highly flawed, but still better than Phantom by a country mile.

...in my humble opinion.

Anyone have any idea what inspired the look for the silver disc booklet?

...I don’t remember anything like that in any of the films.

Revenge feels so rushed and, ultimately, pointless. My thoughts after my last rewatch:

"The opening is pretty good, with the banter between Anakin and Obi-Wan and long upbeat battle to rescue Palpatine. The second half feels rushed, like there’s much the film still needs to establish for the original trilogy. Anakin becoming full Darth Vader after helping kill Windu and then immediately killing children, Palpatine claiming the Jedi aim to take over the senate (How would they even accomplish this? The clones aren’t their army and the Republic is made of many governments.) and immediately creating a Galactic Empire with full support by the senate, even though the Jedi have been known as peacekeepers for generations, and Yoda choosing to go into exile immediately after his failure to defeat Sidious. The way it elaborates on the mythology and these characters is interesting, but it’s not very graceful.

"The final lightsaber fight is honestly kind of like a silly video game lava platforming sequence. It’s drawn out.

"Palpatine should never have used a lightsaber. He and Yoda should have faced off barehanded, like powerful wizards.

"It has some dumb moments, like Ani and Padme trying to be romantic on the balcony, Padme being perfectly healthy according to the medical droid but losing the will to live and Palpatine becoming deformed from an attack he would viciously use on Luke years later. Why does Anakin’s whole body catch on fire? Is that how lava works? It never seemed right to me. I would have rather seen him burn up in a big fire, or fall into lava or a kind of acid and rise screaming like in the end of Terminator 2.

"The closer I get to the ending of the prequels, the more I wonder what the point of telling Anakin’s story was. The original trilogy was completely self-contained and told us what we needed to know. When I get to the end of the prequels, I feel incomplete. Episode IV is so different from III, stylistically and visually, that watching them sequentially doesn’t seem like a very appealing idea to me. Besides, I just watched the originals a month ago. I’m not in the mood. Episode III is so dark and doesn’t give you much resolution in return. In Episode I, everything was still vague and there wasn’t so much focus on Anakin. The film was free to tell a self-contained story, much like Episode IV. Not having a main character yet was perhaps to the benefit of the film. The characters were still only chess pieces in this bigger story of space politics.

"But my biggest problem with the film is how rushed the second hour is. I actually liked it, for the most part, but I find it hard to call it a good movie.

"Having rewatched the three movies now, I feel even more strongly that Anakin’s backstory was a waste of time. If Lucas wanted to show the fall of democracy to tyranny and the destruction of the Jedi, he should have done it with new main characters, whose outcomes we don’t already know. Anakin and Obi-Wan should have been in the background."

Still, it's a 6 out of 10 for me.

So, with all the special features in these new releases still missing some stuff from older sets, I decided to dig into some archives and see what exactly is missing, from where it was last scene, etc. and chart it all out.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1033136337

I'm open to any corrections or suggestions anyone thinks is needed.

$250 for the set? I'll wait for Black Friday.

Does Disney ever - historically - drop their prices though? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a STAR WARS or MARVEL Blu for less than $20 new.

Cancelled my order. Paying £200 for a set of movies that are already on Disney+ is madness. I saw them all last year and I don't need to see them again any time soon. I went back and forth on this release (just because it's the nine films in one set) but cardboard sleeves are terrible and should have gone out of fashion with the Buffy DVD releases.

Marvel films are often 2 for £30 in the UK. I'm probably gonna sell mine soon now that they're all on D+

I’ll be the first to say it’s good to see you go through one of these and have no issues. You seem to have the worst luck with the limited/big ticket stuff.

One of the main reasons to watch the film is Natalie Portman.

I did notice some silvery scratches on the back of the box...doesn’t look like they’re supposed to be there.

And I can’t quite get rid of the discoloration/slight bump from where the J-card was attached.

...but I’ll take it.

She is horrendously bad in all three films, but especially the first two.

Some of that is clearly the fault of awful dialogue.

...but some of it is on her.

I don't agree with that statement, I think she's fine, acting wise, but I actually meant she's easy on the eyes. I certainly wouldn't fast forward her scenes.

The saga of Anakin Skywalker doesn't make sense if you remove his mother or his wife.
