can't backup Killzone2 game save!?! - Blu-ray Forum

I need to return my PS3 to factory defaults due to a problem importing photo's, no problem I thought, just backup the important stuff and reset the console.

But wait; while all my other game saves can be copied to a USB stick, Killzone 2 game save is locked!! So I have to play the game through to where I am again, what the flop is that all about?

And Resident Evil 5.

Evolution unlocked the MotorStorm: Pacific Rift save so maybe if we bug these devs enough they'll unlock the main save and if necessary have a separate locked save for online records.

You can if you restore it using that backup utility. However, you will lose whatever you already have saved on that PS3.

Its really a smart idea in order to insure that the person playing your saved game is really you.

Well, I lost my game save and have started playing again, not too bad when the game is so good but a pain all the same.

Resident Evil 5 as well?

On the Xbox 360 you can transfer with no problem, I never tried with the PS3.

It's a dumb idea. If you paid for the game why shouldn't you have the choice to use your own save or someone else's save? Regardless of that the simple fact it limits your ability to back it up and transfer it to a different PS3 makes it a very dumb idea.

and why is this necesary? What difference should it make if someone loads up another user's save. Locking the save to the console does seem extreme

prevent trophy sharing .... theres actually a few games that do this including burnout and i believe now uncharted as well since the trophy patch ..

Nope, you can copy those saves. They just won't award trophies on someone elses PSN account.

wouldnt let me copy my KZ2 file when i changed my hard drive ... i had to use the system restore to carry it over to the new HDD .. i also couldnt copy my eye of judgement saves and another one i cant rmember off hand

oh im jumping around sorry .. as far as i knew back when i had burnout you could NOT copy it .. maybe they changed it

so if I backed up my ps3. I could load everything onto my new 160gb. I can't copy over Rockband 2, HighVelocity bowling, and Motor Storm: PR. I want to put everything onto the 160gb and move it to the livingroom. I want to retire my 80gb to the bedroom as a dedicated movie player.

then do like GTA IV which allows you to copy saves yet prevents trophy sharing. When you load up a save which is not your own, it tells you that Trophies are not available. Or do like SC IV which will not even load up saves which dont belong to the user

Burnout has always been copyable. It however will not load unless you are the owner of the save
