I was initially really bummed when my amazon order didn't go through, that's because at the time I thought that the UK version was region locked. Now that we know that the sets are pretty much identical and will play in either region those who don't have it can just order the UK version. It is still available from Arrow and amazon U.S. is selling the UK version too. That's where I just ordered mine from.
https://www.amazon.com/Gamera-Comple...p;qid=&sr= And yes, I know it says region B on the site but we have confirmation from someone here in this thread who has already gotten it and tested it and it is in fact dual region A and B. Sure, we'll have to wait a while to get it since its shipping from the UK but at least you'll know that its coming. |

OTOH if UK says that and AmazonUS is using Amazon UK inventory (pretty good chance) I'm not sure I believe the US is being dibs on UK inventory so both are likely to ship similar time frames. When Amazon says 1-2 months, usually it seems to be close to a week or 10 days. I ahd an item last last that said 2-4 weeks and is shipping tomorrow or Monday If UK really is low on inventory, then both US and UK run the same risks of being delivered or cancelled, but who knows what the underlying stock situation really is |

I suspect that Amazon US failed to realize that the US edition of this set was limited to just 5,000 units. They probably don't make it standard practice to honor preorders in the sequence they were placed and didn't make an exception here. They might still be under the impression that they can just get more stock from Arrow to fulfill their outstanding orders, hence why they still aren't canceling orders outright.
I think Arrow is missing out on a potentially huge seller by keeping this set so limited. They could do a second run of just 10,000 units and those would probably sell out within a month. |

Granted I've got nothing against Roninflix, I've bought my share of movies from them and their packaging from a protection standpoint is topnotch. But when dealing with something that could sell out in minutes or less its a gamble I just don't feel like taking. And on top of all that depending on when they get it the UK version could be gone by then. So I went ahead and decided to buy the UK version now. |

I'm still not sold that all 5000 or 10000 units have been spoken for esp with the issues many studios seem to be having getting full runs of their initial orders from the replication factories. Arrow hasn't been fully honest (or maybe transparent since honesty involves intent) in their prior releases on this issue and far too often has sent out word that things are sold out/OOP, gone forever only to see a restock and months of further selling follow. We pretty much have been told that Technicolor Mexico, the replication plants in EU, and many of the Asian factories have all been running on skeleton staffs and are way behind on their orders. Not only have we been told, it seems pretty obvious we are seeing the actual end results with multiple delayed release dates, far too many preorder being very late to ship/deliver or even outright cancelled due to lack of stock. The last 4-6 months have seen many releases in the UK and US apparently falling short of expected delivery numbers and all retailers have been left with egg on their face having to cancel preorders. Once or twice, maybe I blame the retailer, but a few dozens or hundreds of times and dozens of retailers having the same issue screams that the deliveries were shorted. If a retailer orders and are told to expect xxxx units at release (with a long history of being supplied correct numbers), then pre-sells 50-75% or even 95% up front, but then at release they only have 30-40% units sent to them -- who is to blame? Quote:
10K units of a $200 set doesn't sound terribly tight at all esp compared to what ARROW Limited Edition have done int he past. Godzilla may be somewhat unlimited, but no idea how many of those were actually printed on the first run. I'd be a little shocked if teh Criterion Bergman set had a lot more than 5-10K total -- actually wouldn't surprise me to hear much less than 5K, more in the Twilight Time 3000 range. Arrow is not a tiny company, but 10K seems like could easily be an upfront outlay of $500K- 1M . One miscalculation ESP in light of worldwide economic and shipping issues could be disastrous Last edited by hariseldon; 08-23-2020 at 12:35 AM. |

The UK cut of Gamer the Guardian of the universe is bad. I knew there was techno music in it but I didn't know they NEVER STOP PLAYING IT. Even when Nagamine is talking about how she's still dealing with
[Show spoiler] they're playing music like Wesly Snipes is killing a rave full of vampires just off-screen. There's like a grand total of 2 minutes across the whole film that DOESN'T have music. There's no reprieve, just constant aural assault, and it's like the same 4 or 5 tracks. While I could kind of deal with them switching to techno over the score every now and then, they layer it over Otani's score at times, which is just maddening as they do NOT mesh at all. Well, I'm never watching that version ever again. Maybe jump into a scene or two and how hilariously bad the techno is placed, but I'll stick with the US dub and OG Japanese tracks. Listened to a bit of Matt Frank's commentary too and it seems like a fairly legit fact-filled (and properly timed) commentary and not just a bunch of blather from a fan-turned-professional that I was fearing it could end up being. Admittedly I only listened to the first couple of minutes and skipped around the disc a bit, so I could be wrong. |

Seen a report that the Lake Texarkana dub for Legion is incomplete. Uses some lines from the normal dub. Not sure how they could screw that up so something tells me they had to change some lines. Maybe couldn't get permission from all the voice actors?

From what I've seen the "extended" version was on a SE of the G2 DVD a year after the initial release from ADV(?) and they just used the version that was on the mass released DVD. Perhaps they couldn't get the extended version, or a good enough quality version of it.

I'd like to thank everyone who chimed in about details on Arrow's UK Gamera release.
I ordered a replacement for my cancelled pre-order through Amazon UK 2 days ago and it shipped today. Right now, Amazon UK is giving me a September 14 arrival date, but I wouldn't be surprised for the Gamera Collection to show up towards the end of the month. (prior orders from Amazon UK always seemed to arrive quicker than estimated) Ultimately, i wish I'd made my emergency replacement order through Target, Wal-Mart, or someone else who actually did have copies in stock after Deep Discount's 11th hour pre-order cancellation when I had the chance. That would have made things simpler and quicker, but at least I was able to secure a copy and anyone who sees it on the shelf will be curious about the UK ratings certificates. Yes the set is quite nice, but I think you might be overestimating the number of people in the world that would pay over $100 to own the complete set of Gamera movies. Don't get me wrong - I bought it and I'm happy that I did, but its a specialized product for a particular group of enthusiasts.

3rd option -- order both and cancel the one that ships latest. Of course, there is an outside chance both could ship at the same time so you might need to get a local here to buy the extra copy |

Holy hell, I'm on to Barugon, and I'm legitimately stunned how good the transfer is compared to past releases. Amazing.

Do you mean try to get it from roninflix too? I probably would if I knew when they were going to officially make it available since right now it still just says 'coming soon'. If it goes live while I'm at work I'm screwed since my job has a strict no cell phone policy outside of breaktimes and lunches. It could become available and sell out long before I get back on the website hours later.
