I experimented with LCD in the 60's but I'm over that now.

I would get the Sony.

Sony - Known for the Worlds Best Televisions.

Epson - Known for printers that are nearly as good as HP's.

-Brian

p.s. I actually bought a refurbished VW60 for the MSRP of the HW10. I would buy a refurbished or used VW60 over the HW10 because of the motorized focus. I like to be able to make all adjustments to my theater without having to wait or ask anyone to help and while you could adjust focus manually from the pj I find it's too simple to adjust focus with the remote standing closer to the screen.

LCD does have a bad name compared to the other technologies...however they have made extreme advances in the last few years...

and btw...Epson makes the panels for most every LCD projector in the world.

So don't rule it out yet...

The vw60 is a great projector...but if you haven't seen LCD since the 60s how can you make any judgment at all? I think the 6500UB easily matches the vw60. Go demo a new ultra high contrast LCD. They look nothing like they did in the 60s or even a few years ago...

Honestly, tillallr1, go demo both...you will find they have a different (not better or worse) and you need to decide which technology you like better. Here is a short comparison...

Yes, but they seem to have "lost their focus."...I'll go hide in the corner now.

lol...i agree they dropped the ball and rushed release. There is no hiding that...

However, from what I have seen they have fixed their mistakes...

Yeah, the defocusing is supposed to be much more minor now than when it was first released, to the point that it is negligible.

I am under the impression (owners thread / personal experience) that it does not defocus at all internally...

I notice i need to focus it every now and then when i boot it up after i take the lens cap off...i don't think that is internal defocus...

Hey,

Either way... I'm sure both are fun pj's.

I've had a couple of Sony projectors already (VPH1271, VPHG70) and I like the look of LCOS so the Sony was my choice.

Whichever choice you make... Good Luck,... Hope you have lots of fun with it.
