Can you describe the flicker and how it appears to you? I am genuinely curious. Kinda amazed that this problem still exists in these pricey units.

I noticed it mostly in scenes with light backgrounds, it pretty much just looks like the screen gets brighter and then dimmer really quickly, over and over. Kinda like a lightbulb if its not getting enough power. It made me wanna rub my eyes lol

yeah, i kinda though the same thing but it really isn't that bad, but i do set it to 60hrz instead of 48hrz, i know this is true 24p but the g10 does 3:2 pulldown correctly and it doesn't take away from this amazing set at all really. but on the update side, it wasn't a firmware update it was a software update but i still can't find anything about it or what it related to, so again any info on the software update would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure what the update does. But i highly doubt a firmware update will correct the flicker problem since the tv only supports 48hz and 60hz. Firmware update isn't going to make the tv support any other refresh rate as far as i know*.
