Network will be releasing a new restoration of The Weapon (1956). The source Olive used for the US release definitely needed some cleanup, so I'm looking forward to seeing this release. Perhaps more importantly, I'm hoping they will be releasing it in its original 2.35.1 AR (Olive's is in 1.78.1).

It's a good movie and I agree about Jerry Goldsmith's score. Just terrific. Downloadable from iTunes too - I listen to it regularly. Have seen several of Vince Edwards' 50's films during the past year or two. And I keep wondering why he didn't became a bigger star in that era. He's always solid - and even in supporting roles sometimes steals the pictures he's in. The guy seemed to have everything yet was pretty much slotted into what were perceived as B pictures. Even though some of these were outstanding. Rewatched 1952's Cinecolor "Hiawatha" (in which he starred) yesterday and still find it a quiet charmer. Edwards really hit his stride in 50's crime movies like "Cell 2455-Death Row", "The Night Holds Terror", "Hit and Run"(teamed with Cleo Moore) and "City of Fear". But - above all - the noir masterpiece "Murder By Contract"(1958). Edwards' edgy performance (in the lead) is one of the things that makes this movie amazing. Certainly a title we need on Blu-ray.

I didn't really care for Crossfire when I saw it like 8-10 years ago. Maybe I was just in a bad mood. This Blu release is a perfect opportunity to reassess the film. With that cast, how the hell can you go wrong?

Nice! I will definitely pick up this one right away, The others I've been flip-flopping on because I have half the films on other releases (Noir Archive, the Imprint noir set, etc...), but this one is all worldwide Blu-ray premieres! I actually have not seen Convicted and Between Midnight and Dawn... exciting!
