No,it wasn't. Granted,the film is dark but I saw it in its first theatrical run and you could see tons of detail,even in darkness,that are absent in all home video releases (VHS,LaserDiscs,DVDs and Lionsgate's awful BD).Even the colours are distorted (greenish fire?). I wasn't referring to detail. I've noticed that many of Peter Hyams' films have this hazy look to it. Look at movies like Sudden Death, Stay Tuned and The Presidio. They have that look to it.
I'm keeping my eye out on the upcoming BD release and see how Paramount handles the mastering.
