I’m not sure why but it really bothers me that they are labeled 1-6.

Also is that fan art or not? It keeps getting reposted.

yes, that’s all. Only one bonus disc.
Maybe none of the previous DVD or BD bonus materials will be included.
They also confirmed a new LotR extended blu-ray release , which is still 6bd+9dvd.
So we have had confirmation that this boxset is 31 discs? An UCE with none of the legacy content? I just don't see it.

It does seem quite odd to basically confirm that fishy leak. These new images do look very much like the typical official releases. If it turns out to be fan-made (and I suspect it is), it's very well done.

So for folks that don’t give a damn about Blu-rays, this set only offers a single bonus disc over the UHDs we already have? Well, I’m glad I have the bookshelf and 4K SteelBook sets, shame it’s supposedly such a disappointment.

hope they release them separately. Might buy Fellowship since it fixes the green tint but based on what I hear the extended Blu rays are better for the other movies

I'll say this (for me, personally): FOTR is definitely the best of the UHD lot. The proper color grade along with the Dolby Vision HDR make it like watching the film for the first time. The Return of the King is an average/okay upgrade - nothing too egregious. But The Two Towers is definitely the most problematic of the bunch - way too much DNR and some questionable color grading choices. However...for me it was worth the upgrade for the interior scenes in Rohan.

I liked being able to see the detail in Gondor, though. It wasn't so blown-out like in the Blu.

I love the look of that, and I’m sure it’ll be quite attractive in person.

Anyone noticed the price? Converts to around £300 or $400. I don't see anything in those images to justify that. For comparison it's the same price the wooden GOT box also from WB came out at.

Any indicator about the price for this Big Bassturd/Ball’s Deep set? I’m hearing $400 but I’m hoping it’s like half that

Whenever anybody has a problem with the pacing, I recommend trying to watch the films in the Extended miniseries format the way I do, it actually goes a long way helping the pacing of the extended movies, especially The Hobbit films. Basically watch each E.E movie in 2 parts, and treat the whole thing as a 12-part miniseries.

If anyone is curious about split times for The Hobbit, the extended cuts were released in 2 parts on disc on DVD and 3D Blu-Ray if anyone cared to look them up to get the "official" intermission points.

If you translate the page, it says the price is not yet set. It’s just a placeholder, like the fan art.

Well at least they made it easy for me, I'll just buy that bonus disc whenever someone sells it on eBay.

hmm, only one bonus disc... did they do the unthinkable and port all of the Appendices onto one disc??

I doubt the appendices have made this set. LOTR's SD ones would fit, but Hobbit's HD ones would probably be too much for one disc (along with the Colbert reunions & Cannes reel)?

This set is fast sounding like it is living up to the UCE label. Ultimate Cop-out Edition.

Yeah, I'm definitely not seeing a reason to get this set over the blus + 4K steels I already have if that is all it is.

Not going to cry until I see the actual official reveal but what is with this horrible disease of cramming regular bluray discs into 4k releases? If the set is great I'll buy it and just toss any bluray movie discs and insert the bonus material discs from the old bluray boxes if they're not included in this new set.

I know Jackson is sitting on a pile of unseen bonus material he's wanted to get out to fans for years now, this seems like THE opportunity. But we in this hobby all know the brilliance of studio execs in this business. Fingers crossed.

Also so far this does NOT fit the bill for a 2-400USD set, not even half.

Yeah, I am glad I went with the steels if this is true.
