I think the NZ9 will benefit only the people that sit really really close to the screen. It will be hard to tell the differences of the optics unless you sit close. If you watch at a normal distance, the NZ8 will be perfect. I myself want an NZ8, but I'll have to wait until I have enough funds. By the way, none of these projectors are worth getting unless you have a dedicated home theater room that is exceptionally dark with 100% light control. Preferably all black velvet walls and ceiling and black carpet.

In October of 2021 JVC is releasing the worlds first consumer projector that supports HDR10+ (3 different projectors to choose from). I am hoping that one day Sony comes out with projectors that offer both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision HDR feature. So far no consumer projector offers the Dolby Vision HDR feature. Which makes me wonder if Dolby has some exclusive agreement with flat panel companies. Sony and JVC projectors also support the legacy Blu-ray 3D feature.

Here is the link on more information regarding the JVC LCOS projectors.

In addition to seating distance with the better lens, the light path and contrast is a bit better (reduced internal reflections, etc.) etc. in the RS3000 vs RS1000/2000 today and that may carry over to the new laser units. However, there have been further optical block tweaks to the NZ9. But yeah, either way, this is the unit for someone want to squeeze out a small bit of extra performance for a lot more money compared to the NZ8 - but such is the nature of high end A/V products...

I sat in on some of the JVC Zoom seminars on these new units. Got to ask some questions.

I'm on the fence myself. I was considering the RS2100 although the price is higher than I expected. I might just go with the RS1000 instead as I am not sure if I will like the laser dimming as my eyes are sensitive to fluctuations that the dimming provided by the RS4500 and Epson LS10000 for example. The dimming would have to be improved further otherwise I would turn it off. Also, I don't put a ton of hours on my projector - maybe 600 a year. I don't game either. And the JVC lamps are very stable for lamps. Now, the RS2100 laser does provide 400 more lumens than a brand new RS1000 lamp so that could be a plus and the RS4500 laser has been reported to have a really nice slow drop off even after several thousands of hours. All new units have the same respective panel and lens from prior model. Same native contrast. Same dynamic tone mapping but with some granular tweak controlling. HDR10+ is not a big deal to me. Decisions, decisions, but sort of leaning on the RS1000. Not completely ruling out the RS2100 either.

The RS1000 is no slouch. I love mine and people are blown away by it every single time. Helps that I have a Stewart Studiotek screen as well.

I've head nothing but wonderful things about it. Incredible value too (relative to other 4K projectors).
