Movies is the only thing I hoard.

But my collection is alphabetized and stored neatly so it can't really qualify as hoarding.

What you might call hoarding I call long term planning. I like having a large assortment of new-to-me movies to watch, especially as winter approaches and the desire to hibernate intensifies. Movies are my acorns.

Having a lot of something in and of itself isn't really hoarding. Almost everyone that I know has a lot of one thing or another, but none of them would be considered hoarders. If all of your fire exits are readily accessible, your home easily navigable, and you are only spending what you can easily afford, then there's no harm and if there's no harm, then there's no hoarding.

I still remember the hoarders episode about VHS tapes.

This guy kept the tapes from his parents rental store and also everything from his parents because they died. So many feelings in that episode. Mostly because I see no value in VHS but the value was in his mind or heart or something.

I’m lucky enough to have a large spare room so I can file them neatly and just grab when I need them. I must confess though, I have the DVDs in five storage cases in a closet. All the Blu-rays and UHD are in their proper cases but DVD just feels so ancient that i’m not bothered about having the cases and I have over 1,000.

Me too, but mine are all in their original packaging because I'm hardcore; Hoorah!

I have three Movies on this List in my Digital Collection, and I have watched them all. Wonder Woman 1984, Monster Hunter, and Beetlejuice!
I think everyone gave solid perspective and testimonial around buying something and not watching it right away. My situation adds the twist that Vilya pointed out. My system has not been 100% since March, so I have been watching some tv series and Netflix disc rentals since then. After 3 days of calibrating the new processor, I am finally to the point of working through those movies I haven’t seen yet. It was 3 days because of the Lyngdorf not liking an aftermarket power cord, which was wreaking havoc with its performance to the point I was ready to return it. Mystery solved though. I still have another day to calibrate an Atmos configuration though, but that time spent is a lot of fun to me.

As far as not being proud to own some movies, that comment is in reference to buying big dumb movies like Godzilla vs Kong knowing that it is only to be able to enjoy the investment of my system, and not one to walk away having thoughts provoked by a piece of art. I am not necessarily a fan of Marvel as the market is over saturated in my mind, but buying Black Widow was more of a decision to simply enjoy a spectacle. F9 will get added for audio purposes only as I am curious of any movie that will push my room to limits or new heights.

Having a system like several of us in our group allows a level of enjoyment, justification, and pride when those 2 hours of bliss take place. To me that, is well worth the wait to experience it right; high brow cinema or not.

Watched The Last Duel last night. Amazing film, definitely the best movie of the year for me. Loved the set design and score.

Default 4K Blu-ray Delays!

A follow-up on the 4K Blu-rays, and why there's shortage and delays. According to Jeff from Films At Home there is one Duplicating Plant left in Indiana, but 90% of the orders come from the Plant in Mexico. It's just the Supply Chain and the shortage in personal. Check out the Video below. Also I was at my local Walmart, and they have remodeled the store aisles taking out those big Movie Displays. They only had the DVD and Blu-ray Sales Tubs, and a small 4'X5' Movie Display!

The Jeff of Films At Home is widely known by some of our most esteemed forum members to be a complete idiot:

Ah, the St. George, Utah Walmart! The bellwether of the entire world! My local Walmart has not changed anything, but they likely haven't received the memo from the St. George store.

I’m a neat freak so hoarding is the enemy.

Someone needs to tell my wallet. My postwoman asked me if I was a businessman a while back because of the amount of discs she delivers. That’s aside from Prime and Fed ex deliveries. I’m keeping those guys busy!

No problem in the supply chain my end. A Clockwork Orange 4K arrived yesterday.

This one’s for Vilya. I bought the Sky glass tv. As I am a loyal customer, I was able to pre order straight away. It should arrive very soon. I’m using it as a bedroom tv which is fine as my home is detached. I did some research and it didn’t seem the best option for gaming (PS5/PS4). The pictures look slick. It is chunky but I still think it looks nice. It’s going on a stand anyway.
Sky offer a hardware upgrade every two years so will see how it goes. Good enough for the streaming services and Sky’s own 4K offerings plus broadcast.
If I understand correctly, I can buy a puck to attach to the living room tv to get the exact same features. (You can’t just buy a puck on its own)

But, like a broken clock, he’s right once in a while, though it didn’t take a genius to figure this one out. I just wouldn’t trust his opinion on what a UHD looks like. Ever.

I don’t claim to know any specifics from “insiders” but the lack of replication capacity in North America is starting to bite now we’re into Q4, always the busiest time of year. Paramount have been pressing discs overseas and shipping them to the US but again, with the usual squeeze on shipping and worldwide freight at this time of year plus the other “issues” the world is still grappling with, it means some stuff is gonna be delayed.

There are still more replication plants in Europe than in North America IIRC so yeah, we’re largely unaffected by those logistics so far e.g. UK Scream UHD is on the way.

Which 4K release are you most excited about this year? Just picked up Shawshank, Bohemian Rhapsody and Clockwork Orange.

Was hopping to get a response from a pro but never happened.

The small Walmart at Pisgah Forest NC (here) has increased its disc display. Do not have pictures from before so it means nothing to take any now.

The spouse said she had to update her Walmart app and the new one wants here to sign up for Walmart+ for online ordering. It appears to me Best Buy, Target and Walmart is trying to replicate the success of Amazon online ordering. Best Buy, Target and Walmart may come to regret all the lobbing they did to get laws passed where Amazon and other online merchants had to collect taxes without a physical presence. I believe in the coming years Amazon will start to include B&M in their business model.
