My original order was placed online for in-store pickup. So it has an "online order ID" and could be price matched on chat. If you bought in-store, I think it has to be price matched in-store.

Okay. Mine was ordered online for curbside. Waiting on chat to connect right now.

I'm tempted as well. If the sale is going for the entire week then at least I'll have a few days to consider it. Not a fan of the outdated menus and remote but this does everything you'd ever want and has the HDR tone mapping/optimizer.

FYI: Walmart has also price matched this as well.

I still don't have a 4K TV yet, but I'll definitely want the 820 once I do. Is this as cheap as it ever gets, and are there any legitimate concerns that it may be discontinued soon, or is Panasonic in it for the long haul?

I think the cheapest I've ever seen it was $350 when I bought my first one. I haven't seen it that low since though. So $400 might be it.

Been reading a bit more about the 820 and it sounds like it even has some region-free playback with certain titles. Very tempting at this point...especially considering I have a lot of Arrow 4Ks with Region B locked special features discs.

I wouldn't wait. It doesn't seem to stay in stock at Best Buy lately. I've been watching all year and finally got one.

Thanks for the headsup Rustin and jabba. Wasn't planning on looking at Bestbuy until after the new year and just got my $100 back.

Playback on a lot of discs seems to have improved for my UB820, before the update I had a DVD(yeah I know, but who's gonna put Bloodsport 2 on Blu-ray? lol) and despite being spotless it became a pixelated mess within the first 60 seconds and after cleaning it(and scratching it) had exactly the same results in the same places after 3 tries, meanwhile my little Sony S6700 had no such issues with it.

Just retried it for the first time today and it played it flawlessly.

There's a lot in this thread to cover, so I apologize in advance before I ask these two questions.

With the 820 being at its cheapest price across multiple retailers:
  1. What are the ideal settings to use alongside the TCL 6 Series 2018 (65R617)? I've seen a lot of comments regarding turning off 24p playback amongst other topics.
  2. Does the region free trick using the remote still work? I would only need this for Arrow / Region B titles.

For HDR Optimizer, use mid luminance LCD HDR Optimizer preset. Don’t forget to follow the setup tutorial in my signature

The trick works for roughly 95 to 98% of Arrow titles that are region B.

I have the same TV as you. Please let me know if you get audio sync issues as well. I turned off 24p playback and it didn't solve it. I had to resort to using the audio delay function on the player. I'm hoping that when I upgrade to a new Sony or LG OLED that I'll be able to use the Panasonic without having to use the audio delay function.

I just got the 820. For some reason my Samsung Q70R only displays HDR10+ as HDR10 when 12bit priority is selected in the settings. I switch to 10bit priority now my TV displays HDR10+. Does my cable not have enough bandwidth or a bandwidth limitation with hdmi 2.0?

Finally went ahead and ordered through Walmart.com

Amazon and Best Buy still have it in stock as well. Looking forward to getting this player. I have been meaning to add a new player to my lineup for quite some time. This seems to be the best all around player and being that it will play some Region B titles..it was an easy decision.

Don't forget to have a cable on hand. They don't put an HDMI in the box.

Are you playing audio from the internal speakers or through another output (sound bar, receiver, etc)?

I have a VIZIO SB36312 3.1.2 Atmos Soundbar + Subwoofer that I have connected to my set using Passthrough.

Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully the remote has batteries.

I have some cables but not the latest high speed one. Any suggestions?

At this point, all I can think of is for you to make sure all your devices, which are your TV, the player, and AV receiver/sound bar, are on HDMI 2.0 mode, or enhanced HDMI mode. A lot of devices have their HDMI 2.0 mode turned off by default, which includes both my own sound bar and TCL TV.

I’ve been using Zeskit HDMI cables on my set at home.
