Someone here also posted footage of a man running from a falling electrical tower and not running to the side, which pretty much dispels the weak, overblown criticism.

I'm fine with both of these scenes.
The scene in Aliens is acceptable IMO. Sulaco has artificial gravity, but once the doors open, the Queen is just stuck floating at the barrier of space. There’s no gravity in space. She’s not falling into this void and holding onto Ripley with her full mass. The only force that pushes the Queen out is the air drag due to escaping air. So technically, Ripley only has to overcome that. And further, the Queen is holding onto Ripley’s shoe. So Ripley only has to overcome the force which requires to yank her shoe off and the air drag on Ripley’s body. This is not as far fetched as people make it out to be.

That wasn’t established previously. And even so, an impact of that magnitude inches away from her would turn her into dog meat. And how did she get out? Sometimes Ridley has brain clouds. Like all of those wind noises every time they showed Nostromo in Alien. There even was an interview where someone asked him if he knows that there’s no air in space. His response was there is now!

They are. The mid-movie disc flip is a great way to stay in shape.

Need a "Prometheus but with a Laserdisc" fan video where Noomi is running away from a giant disc.

I may as well stay offline for the rest of the weekend. There is no f-ing way I'll read anything better than this.

Fun Fact: my sister was a Jazzercise instructor in the '80s, and I would help her carry and setup her audio equipment. Partly I was being a good brother; mostly I wanted to be around women in Spandex.

Okay, I'll pick this battle:

1) This doesn't dispel shit. They're all idiots. Seeing this doesn't make it any better. I can't believe you're defending the decision of the characters to run in that direction.

2) He survived, so in hindsight I can't bash the choice too much. If you say one of the two people survived in Prometheus, the one did by eventually going to the side. Nobody running straight survived in that scene Prometheus.

3) This was very little time to react. The person who dies in Prometheus is crushed 55 seconds after it started rolling, plenty of time to make a decision after realizing theirs wasn't working. This guy had three seconds. Probably should've ran to the side, but he couldn't guarantee which way it was falling and likely never looked back. Can't compare the two, but hey they're all morons anyway. Then again, he survived so I'm not going to chastise him too much.

Rewatching the Prometheus clip, my blood is boiling. They had a better chance running forward where the "eaten doughnut" area is than they did running away from it.

I already mentioned the one in Dunkirk, but has anyone ever see Halloween 5 when the little girl is being chased by Michael driving in a car, and she drives into a wooded tree area but she chooses to only run in the areas where there aren't any trees so the car can follow? And what ultimately stops the car chase? Driving into a tree, of course.

These criticisms are not overblown. A story asks for a character to die or a set piece to take place, and it's the job of the screenwriter(s), director, etc. to arrange it in a way that doesn't make the audience yell at the screen like any of these folks reacting to the Prometheus scene:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=1284...ature=youtu.be
https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=1245...ature=youtu.be
https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=1116...ature=youtu.be

Don't think everyone here is going off of CinemaSins. They're merely echoing what everyone else thinks. It was an incredibly shot scene that was ruined by poor writing.

At least we agree DH ain't a Christmas movie.
