The Little Shop of Horrors (1986 musical) with the original dark ending intact. It's been rumored for years now and I would hope to see something conclusive now. Warner's only said it's 'in the works' or something to that effect.

Seems to me like Scarface will never be released...

Also Great astles of Europe, the TLC show from the late 90's is my all time dream BD. Chances? Slim to none IMO, but a man can dream.

Uh, which version of Scarface are you referring to? I hope it's the original 1932 version, but somehow, judging from the tastes of the majority of posters on these forums, I doubt it.

This kind of film snobbery pisses me off. Oooooh I like the original because it's obscure and it makes me seem like a "film" buff. The Paul Munie (sp?) Scarface was decent at best, watch it now and it shows its age, and not in any sort of good way.

Nothing wrong with the Pacino Scarface at all. And that last poke at people's taste in movies is a juvenile comment. Get over yourself dude.

Maybe it's just a better film? Or does it immediately have to be film snobbery?

But you're right. Giorgio Moroder's synthesizer music did not date the 1983 film at all .

Best in Show - love the movie, would love a blu-ray, but I'm not holding my breath

TV show Lexx / Farscape - both are great shows, even though farscape rights have been secured by sony, it'd be nice for an announcement...

yeah, Pacino's Scarface is only really remembered now because Pacino was so over the top with the one liners and everyone and their brother likes to wear the t-shirts nowadays. I saw a little girl at wal-mart the other night, couldn't be more than 10 or 11 years old, wearing a pretty bloody looking Scarface tee. WTF? Thanks again rappers, for one more fantastic fashion/social contribution to this world. The movie has not aged well. Falls directly into the overrated category for me, but i agree with SonofArathorn, that original comment sounded pretty snooty and i know snooty.

(I guess from the defensive tone of your answer I was right about which version of Scarface you wanted on Blu-Ray.)

It's not snobbery. The original Scarface is not some obscure cult or art film. It's a well known classic that helped define the gangster genre, by one of the greatest "golden age" Hollywood directors of all time -- Howard Hawks! It uses visual metaphors to tell it's story, like the scene of Boris Karloff getting shot in the bowling alley. The last remaining wobbling tenpin represents Karloff's offscreen body hitting the ground. That one scene is far more creative than the whole of the De Palma version -- which is an over-the-top, ham-fisted affair. Al Pacino -- who is one of my favorite actors -- hams it up in that film, too. His take on his character is more like a vaudevillian impersonation of a Cuban.

Well, I've said my piece, and I'm sorry I offended you.

You may be right about the Pacino Scarface.... but it's STILL better than the original. That just tells me how bad the original sucked.
To each his own. Just don't make snooty generalizing comments like that and you'll be ok with me.

I like both of them, but never as much as Public Enemy or White Heat.
I would like to see "Aguirre, The Wrath of God" or Fitzcarraldo on Blu.

I think most old movies from the "poverty row" studios will have trouble coming to Blu-Ray. The copyrights for most of those B pictures have traded hands for decades. Films like Detour (1945), which was a release from PRC Pictures, or The Big Combo (1955) by Allied Artists, for instance. Who owns the rights now? These films mostly show up in poorly produced public domain videos, or if the company does a good job, like Image Entertainment, the film print still shows signs of damage. I doubt we'll ever see a restored HD presentation of these minor classics.
