I just broke down and bought a "For Your Consideration" dvd set of Season 3, so expect the official announcement any moment now. You're welcome.

Why would anyone buy something that literally will look markedly worse than just streaming it? That’s a “fan of collecting physical media” bridge too far for me.

Because they want to be able to watch the show without needing a streaming service subscription.

I never do streaming as my internet is to slow in my area. so they and other streaming whatever they can keep their shows/movies until they release it also on physical medium.

Fair enough. I guess what I’ve learned from this is I would never want to live where you do, LOL.

I actually have the same Season 3 For Your Consideration DVD set that I got for free a few years ago from an old coworker who was giving away a bunch of screeners he had. I'd still rather a Target exclusive Blu-ray set like we did for the first two seasons but I'm not holding my breath.

At the very least, I suspect that once the show is finished there could be a complete series box set. The show is certainly popular enough to warrant one, regardless of whether or not Netflix doesn't want to take a chance on physical media.

Everybody still acting like they're going to announce this months in advance.

If it happens, and it's a Target exclusive, we'll know probably the Friday before it comes out which would probably the Tuesday before the season starts.

I thought Netflix switched over to Walmart for exclusivity of merch.

WM will have exclusive Netflix items at their stores, but they're not the only retailer that will get exclusives. Target still gets occasional exclusives as well, and Netflix's shop also sells stuff too.

I really hope you are right with this. So we still have hope left thats good to know it can still come. It would be great way to advertise the new season with the previous season on 4K/BD set again like they did for s1-2.

I doubt the rest of the series comes to physical/4K UHD: it's Netflix and they want to promote their streaming platform obviously + apparently the sales of the last two physical releases were utterly abysmal at Target

Due to their own marketing incompetence. That was a self inflicted wound.

And since I will never do Netflix again since they keep cancelling most of their good shows within only 1-2 seasons... I won't ever see season 3 and beyond without a physical release.

They'll never accept this, sadly. Much like Disney not getting why the sales of their new shyt Pirates 4K are because it is indeed shyt and not because it's a physical release.

Why would they market it? You realize they care about subscriber growth above all else right? You think the drop in the bucket they would get from physical sales is worth losing any potential new subscribers over? It literally makes no sense for Netflix to promote any physical release. Stranger Things is probably their biggest draws to the service, so physical releases are a complete afterthought to them, as they should be. Even with everyone else trying to play catch up, and compete, Netflix's subscriber growth is up 9% year over year, and revenue up 16% (according to most recent earnings report). Pretty sure they know what they're doing.

We'll get season 3 and 4 just as soon as we get the final seasons of Voltron on DVD, i.e. never.

This, Walmart has gotten allot, but other stores have still also received Stranger Things exclusive items. Is definitely a possibility Season 3 could go to Walmart though.

My guess is if it comes, May 17 will be the release date, and we won’t hear a thing until like a week before that as the release starts to leak one way or another. Both Season 1&2 were weirdly not announced ahead at all, many were questioning the validity of some of the earliest leaks coming from Targets even until that release weeks ad went up. Was available for order on the website same day it went up for sale, never was a preorder option.

fair enough as the offers of movies/tv series on dvd/bluray and streaming (especially classic) is lousy
