If it's not a hand rolled Cuban...it's just not a cigar (IMO).

But the problem with Cubans is that the quality of the build suffers, largely because of the Marxist utopian society they are constructed in. While I will not argue that there is something about the soil and climate on that island that produces the finest tobacco on Earth, the consistency of quality of construction of many of the cigars from there is erratic at best. An even, slow burn and comfortable draw are equally important as flavor and body in the smoking experience. There are some fine cigars of with Dominican innards and American wraps that are on par, although very expensive.

I went to an event where the makers of ACID (Drew Estate) were promoting their new cigar Liga Pravada #9.

I recommend it. I also got a cool hat.

I got all the guys in my wedding a variety box of ashtons, very good cigars. I'm camping this weekend. This thread reminded me that I need to pick up a cigar to smoke while I'm sitting by the campfire.

Yeah, there are several makers that use Dominican or Central American fillers and Connecticut wrappers or binders, with several scoring above 90 in Cigar Aficionado ratings.

Had a AF Short Story last night. I have one Opus left for when I pass my EMT course (take the test next week).

Had a barrel aged La Aurora with my beer brewing session today. Very even burn, nice draw and long lasting ash. Haven't had a full-featured cigar in a while, and it just about knocked me for a loop. It was fabulous, and despite being hours ago, and having brushed the teeth, I can still taste it. Tomorrow might actually be warm here, and I can possibly sit and have one relaxed-like, instead of while working, with a Bourbon. Shall be nice!
