Yuji Naka has revealed he was removed as game director 6 months out from launch and filed a lawsuit against Square Enix, which has now concluded. According to him, he knew the game was going to launch in an unfinished state, and criticizes SE and the developer Arzest for releasing it anyway - "I think Square Enix and Arzest are companies that do not care about games and game fans."

Thanks for the details.

I played the demo if I remember right, and while I was impressed by the CGI trailer visuals, the actual game looked like a PS3 game and was very underwhelming for a demo. If I'm thinking of the right game, the human character could turn into different creatures to deal with the enemies, but you were stuck in very limited box areas and had to open up the next box section across a bridge or something. Not my style of game normally anyway.
