Deleting the thread is pointless. The disc is still coming out in 3D so I'm not sure why the mods deleted it. While the 3DFA created the thread it doesn't mean that since they're not involved the movie no longer exists, yet that's how it's being treated in this forum. Also, deleting things on the internet in 2022 is pointless as google already cached the entire thread so you can still see it or read it using a simple search.

Any mods want to chime in as to why the main thread was deleted when the release is still happening?

If you'd have looked before you posted you'd have seen that we still have a thread for the movie: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=351009

As you say, the disc is still coming out in 3D so we need to have a thread for it here just as we do with every other new release.

A clue as to who may have blocked the 3DFA from collaborating on I, the Jury's Blu-ray 3D release to perform vertical misalignment correction.

The owner, StudioCanal, has not announced any release plans. But I would not be surprised. It's quite interesting that, within 48 hours of JURY's debut at the TCM Festival, an entity that has been making their living off Kickstarter for many years has crawled out of the woodwork to claim complete responsibility for UCLA and Roundabout's work, and Connie Elliot's largesse. These parties who had nothing to do with UCLA's 3D restoration, performed over the course of the COVID lockdown, under contract with the legitimate owners of the film, StudioCanal. The Kickstarter boys are now claiming all the work as their own.

Pretty classy, Scott. The irrational butthurt is strong with this one. What a petty little drama MacQueen. How embarrassingly childish can you get?

The work of the 3DFA speaks for itself and needs no defending, but reading that post from Scott Macqueen and seeing him use “Kickstarter” as a pejorative and an insult rubs me the wrong way.

It rolls off his tongue in the same way an old British Lord might say “commoner.” It’s as if the very idea that people with less money (and therefore less class and dignity) could unite together to accomplish great things scares and offends him.

I’m not familiar with Connie Elliott and I am extremely grateful for the financial support to save this film. Thank you for supporting a worthy cause!

Scott referencing Connie Elliot by their full name, while referring to Bob and the team at 3DFA as “boys” who are “making their living off Kickstarter” and “crawled out of the woodwork” positively reeks of classism. Sorry Scott, I thought that idea went down with the Titanic (1997, 3D conversion 2012.)

Speaking if Golden Age 3D! I showed my wife Inferno the other day, it’s now her second favorite 3D movie from the era after Dial M for Murder. We tried Kiss Me Kate too, I thought it was fantastic but she ended up having a long and cozy nap.

That is absolutely outrageous and slanderous, and either a lazy misunderstanding or a willful misrepresentation of the facts at hand. Talk about unnecessary drama.

"Kickstarter boys" ?! "crawled out of the woodwork"?! 3-DFA have worked with The Film Foundation, TIFF, Universal and Paramount studios. But at the same time, they're not up in some ivory tower.

Never understood the egos in the restoration community.

There, the 3DFF shines for having achieved amazing feats in raising awareness, researching, locating and preserving their small niche in film history and humbly playing their success as "hard work and out-of-our-own-pockets monetary cost" by a bunch of "almost hobbyists" while they certainly rival and surpass many "professionals", not that the 3DFF are not professionals themselves, but also being professional only means "living off" the income from you job, while the 3DFF is about getting 3D films saved first and if possible "out there" in the hands of the public, and making a measly buck second, if possible at all. After all, like Bob likes to say, he has the bad habit of liking to eat every now and then. And we all deserve to be compensated for our work, even if done out of love.

Thanks Bob, the 3DFF and other stereoscopic film aficionados, professionals or not, that work behind the curtains for your dedication.

About the comments of that other archivist, there is nothing I can say, his own words speak for it.

That man child needs to have some baby powder on his tuchy.

A diaper would do nice for the stuff that is coming from that keyboard too.

Someone with a LinkedIn account should ask Scott where did the 3DFA ever "claim complete responsibility" and "claimed all the work as their own."

Yep. I’m calling libel on his egomaniacal butthurt ass. What a tantrummy little child. I suspect he might want to lawyer up.

ClaassicFix did respond to Scott on Linkedln (see below):

CORRECTION REGARDING I, THE JURY

Earlier posts regarding the restoration of I, THE JURY have been misconstrued by some. We would like to correct any potential misreading and state that 3-D Film Archive was in no way involved in the current restoration of I, THE JURY.

I, THE JURY has been restored by UCLA Film and Television Archive in collaboration with PKL Pictures and Romulus Films. Laboratory services Roundabout Entertainment, The UCLA Digital Lab, Audio Mechanics and Simon Daniel Sound. Special thanks to Connie Elliot, Nicholas Varley and Jonathan C. Woolf.

We do greatly admire the work of The 3-D Film Archive... but as of this writing they will not be taking any part nor take any role in our upcoming release of I, THE JURY... I can say with assurance that fans will be pleased by our upcoming special edition release.

You know, I make a living selling discs on Amazon and raising funds on Kickstarter. I try to focus on cool stuff that no one else will do that I still think is worth doing.
I could dismiss people at archives at "Ivory Tower Elites" as conveniently as Mr. MacQueen dismisses us as "Kickstarter Boys." You wanna think of this as classism? YOU BET YOUR CLASS IT IS.
We live in a world where interest in films made before 2000 is almost zero, when profits or even cost recovery is almost impossible. Mr. MacQueen has done the "Kickstarter Boys" an injustice, for certain, but he's also insulted everyone who wants to see older films, films that the Ivory Tower Elites have neither the time nor the inclination to restore.
3DFA has done the world of film a service, and any money they raise is honestly earned.
FWIW, I think of UCLA the same way.
LET'S STOP THE IN-FIGHTING AND SAVE MORE FILMS.

I do not know who Scott MacQueen is, but I do know who the 3DFA is. I also know that the 3DFA is responsible for roughly a dozen 1950s 3D movies being restored and put on 3D Blu Ray, while Mr. MacQueen is not. So I know who gets my respect.

Also, hello Mr. Grayson. Good to see you here. I signed up for your restoration of King of the Kongo and I want to tell you that I'm as eager for that as I am the 3DFA releases.

On a non-I, The Jury note, I watched the Warner Archive DVD of The Command tonight. It was the Cinemascope version, of course, but you can tell the movie was shot for 3D. I wish Warner Brothers would release the 3D version, along with all their other 3D movies.

If only McLintock! had made it to 3D, I expect it would have cleaned Kiss Me Kate's clock. Seems to track better with the womenfolk

It sure does seem odd to me that this fella on LinkedIn (irony) works for a massive public university pretty much in tinseltown, with effectively "infinity money" (at least 4.6 billion bucks, including $404 million sent in by donors), and yet he's got a bee in his bonnet over a small group having more success with film preservation via crowd funding.

Off the top of my head I can think of Martin Scorsese, Roy Ward Baker and Tarantino as people from the film world who have lauded or worked in some way with Bob. It's apparent jealousy that someone can work outside of the "industry" and with passion and integrity produce over 20 successful projects.
Why should that hamper consumers that want the best possible product and have supported this industry for at least 12 years (for 3D)..It's taken 60+ years for I The Jury to get to us and it's impeded by this?
