Diary of Anne Frank (50th Anniversary Edition) hits Blu-ray 6/16/09

Just a reminder, Anne Frank comes out this Tuesday, and I urge all who are interested to pick one up new and not wait for used if you can afford to do so. It is very important that we now support all of the classics, especially the pre-1970 releases....the more we buy, the more they will release. Thanks.

I was hoping to get this at Best Buy, but ONCE AGAIN it looks like they will fail to stock a new Blu release of an older catalog title. Just checked their website, and it's listed as "not available" in my area (and there are many BBs in my area). This was the case with several other recent Blus of older catalog titles like 'South Pacific', 'Quo Vadis', 'The Robe', 'An American in Paris', and 'Gigi', none of which I've seen in a BB store.

Russell, the same is true here in my closest store (Best Buy), and then in some Minneapolis stores. You don't see South Pacific or The Robe or Quo Vadis at Target or Walmart either.....and they wonder why classic titles aren't selling on Blu-ray!!!!!!! The amount of classic movies available on Blu-ray is so small, and then they aren't stocked (OR advertised), and then the studios (and people in some of the insider threads) tell us they aren't selling well. Gee I wonder why. I don't even see the Blu-ray listed of Anne Frank on Walmart's website, where I have a few gift cards to use up.

Slightly off-topic, but has anyone else heard Neutral Milk Hotel's "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea"?
It's a great album inspired by the Diary of Anne Frank. In case you've never heard of it, here's an article that discusses the album, the band, etc. Quite interesting, I think. The album's not for everyone, but those that do connect with it, it's held in very high esteem.

I've never heard of this film until Amazon posted it for 12.99 today. After doing some reading from other members and a few reviews out there I pulled the trigger. Seems like a very interesting film.
