I'm in , great fun still remember getting out of school and meeting my friends at the theater for this . Kids today are lucky in that they didn't grow up like us thinking this might happen in the not too distant future .

While the Soviet Union was the only other superpower outside of the United States for the better part of the second half of the 20th century, making it second most powerful, it was never powerful enough to actually pose a serious threat to the US. The premise of this movie is a total nonsense scenario.

I understand that what kids worry about doesn't always reflect reality, though. I mean, I had plenty of my own irrational childhood fears, so I'm not judging anyone else too harshly.

I was in 7th grade when this came out and one class took a field trip to the theater to see it. Think it was history class but not positive on that. Doubt kids today will get to do stuff like that.
