It can be available to purchase in the time it takes for me to rip the DVD's onto Blu. Though the fact that my pc is crap, and I don't actually posess a Blu burner may slow me down a bit. Price will be $25,000 each (plus George Lucas tax), and you have to pay shipping which may be a teeny bit expensive because being so precious they'll be shippied individually. In 10 foot by 10 foot steel crates. With armed security personnel. On their own ship. Via New Zealand, the Caribbean and Antarctica (I need a holiday).

I wonder if we'll ever get to that point. That would be pretty hardcore on Lucas' part.

After the fiasco that was the special edition VHS and DVD, I wouldn't expect George Lucas to hop on the blu ray bus just yet.
WHAT WE WANT:
The original theatrical editions of the movies (that includes Han shooting). Film cleanup (noise reduction, possibly grain removal again).
This is what I have ascertained from many of the other demands. Don't respond immediately and say "speak 4 urself".
I personally grew up watching the special editions and haven't had any qualms with George Lucas. I was born in 93 though so I did not grow up when the originals were being released and re-released.

FINAL VERDICT:
As with the other releases, George Lucas is holding off for more blu ray market saturation. For example, the first DVD release was Twister on March 26, 1997. Star Wars was released on DVD in 2004, 7 years later. The first Blu Ray releases were on June 20th 2006. If the scheme continues, expect a release in 2013.

Pod Racers on blu ray FTW.

Episodes I and II came to DVD before 2004, didn't they?

The dude's busy. He'll get to it when he gets to it - you try running an entertainment empire, jeez.

It's not like you can't watch Star Wars right now if you wanted to. They'll come to blu-ray at some point. In the meantime there are other, better films announced that you can look forward to in the upcoming months.

Can we find better things to talk about now?

I'm talking about the original trilogy. Those would be good also, but I was keeping to the original.

Once the New Star Trek comes out on Blu, I may not want to buy Star Wars anymore. I will buy all the Star Treks and give uncle George the finger as I turn into a Star Trek fan.
