100% my same thoughts, and my plan if it isn't individual cases. Right now I'm planning on getting the deluxe TMPDE and the individual UHDs of II-VI to get those great slips.
Selling off my I-IV UHDs for whatever I get. What do you guys think is fair? $20? $30?

This entire release is a total mess. I don't need all the fancy expensive bling. These blinged-out sets are just getting to be too much for me. Too big and too expensive. At least if it was good bling, like a model of the Enterprise. Or some prop reproduction. Instead it's a bunch of patches and bumper stickers. Worthless to me. Why not include the full soundtrack CDs instead of all the silly patches? But I have a soft spot for the special longer version. It sucks that the only way to get it is the complete adventure set. I guess we're lucky that it's not just exclusive to the 15-disc 6-film set. Am I correct that the special longer version is actually IN 4k with HDR? It's on the 4k disc but is it actually presented in 4k?

We know the US 3-disc Director's Edition Complete Adventure uses miserable cardboard sleeves. You can tell from the image.

Do we know if the UK 5-disc Director's Edition Complete Adventure also uses sleeves, or stacked discs? Or are they doing it right?

The UK is currently $25 cheaper than the US set and has 2 extra discs. I'm hoping the disc storage is better than the US set.

It's a shame that with 5 discs in the UK set, the special longer cut is only on UHD, not blu-ray. So anyone without a UHD player is out of luck. Not cool.

So is the theatrical version in the new Director's Edition Complete Adventure exactly the same as what we previously got on 4k, with the botched space dock shot (static stars), or is there any slight possibility that they fixed that one shot for this new release? Will that shot be corrected or restored to it's original theatrical appearance for the special longer cut, or will it use the same botched shot we previously got in the theatrical? It's branching so I have no idea what shots we'd be getting. I'm assuming the special longer cut is using the effects from the original theatrical cut, not the director's cut?

The deluxe set seems to have an exclusive version of the theatrical cut UHD, since it shares it's space with the special longer cut only available in this set. So I wonder if there are some tweaks/fixes for the theatrical version, like the space dock shot, snuck in for this version of the disc only? But then that would just piss off even more people who don't get the deluxe edition.

The Theatrical Cut and Special Longer Version are the two that share the same UHD so I'm guessing the special longer cut uses the theatrical cut footage, just with the extra scenes added.

And did they fix that scene that looked so bad with the added pillars in the room for the director's cut?

It’d be amazing if they unf*cked TMP when putting the theatrical on this new UHD with the SLV, but I’m not expecting anything to be different. I think they’ll just bolt on the SLV material as needed. They will shirley be using a UHD100 for this branched disc though so there’s a good chance it might have a betterer encode than the extant theatrical disc. It’s not great, it’s not terrible, but I wouldn’t say no to a few extra bits.

It’s a shame the packaging for the deluxe will have those godawful sleeves, but as soon as I get mine the discs are going into the custom combo I made from the UK BD and UHD: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=5071. Got a six disc case ready to go (six because I’ve got the 50th anniversary bonus disc as well).

Yes, but that same astute person goes on so many of these flights of fancy that they’re hard to take seriously every time. They did however call this one so kudos.

Digital codes with Blu-rays/UHDs are not really a thing anymore in the UK and even if it did you wouldn't be able to just redeem it not without using a VPN etc

Yep, the majors stopped giving us codes years ago.

And I've seen people state that the discs are in cardboard sleeves which is never popular around here. Anybody know the facts for sure
I think part of the reason it's believed the U.S. release has 3 disks is partially because the photo of the set shows the three disks and how they're slotted in the set.

The press releases say 2 UHD discs and 1 BD bonus features disc for the US. If you look at retailers in the UK, they specifically point out 5 discs for the UK version for TCA. Now, you lose the digital code with the UK set but you gain 2 BD discs and it's cheaper than the US set currently, even with shipping to the US.

Damn, FOMO! I pre-ordered through Bull Moose while I am waiting for them to put up the others because I don't want to go through another Ghostbusters box set situation.

Serious question... will the UK version of the deluxe "Complete Adventure" set have those age-rating badges plastered prominently on the box? Doesn't appear to be the case, according to product photos on the Zavvi site. Though possibly Zavvi is using mock-ups that won't reflect the final look of the box.

This is a major factor in my decision whether to spring for the UK version. Those badges are distracting and ugly.

Also wondering if the 1080 Blu discs in the UK set might be region-locked.

Yeah, I'm not gonna stress myself getting a deluxe boxset covering space I lack very much of just for 10 minutes of incomplete scenes in a long movie. I'm set with Theatrical and Director's, thank you.

It is 3 discs.

1. The Director's Edition - 4k/UHD
2. Theatrical Cut/Special Longer Version - 4k/UHD (Exclusive disc)
3. Special Features - Blu-ray

It also includes a digital copy.

I purchased the 4 movie 4k box set last year. Star Trek The Motion Picture is in 4k. Is this a new 4K scan or would I just be getting a different directors or extended version if I pick up one of the packages? Just seems like another studio cash grab.

UK release will have usual BBFC age rating on box packaging and on discs
UK DVD/Blu-ray/UHD releases must have age rating it's a legal requirement in UK
Distributors have the age rating printed or use removable stickers on the release packaging it can vary with release with method is used
Paramount UK most times use printed method

Retailers images are always just mock ups not actual photos of release

Bullmoose does have everything up - for some reason, if you search for "Star Trek", they don't show. If you stick the numbers for the sequels in, they show up.

Unless you watch using BBFC approved Decoder Box™ everything will look like this:
