Anyone else know any other Universal horror movies that haven't gotten a 4K yet? I really hope they lend Crimson Peak to Shout or Arrow for a 4K release.

I'm okay with that. 4k would just make the movie to somehow age even worse.

Do you think Universal would release it themselves or give it to a boutique label?

I'd lean towards a boutique getting it.

Sorry to burst a bubble, actually, not sorry.

I am not aware of Universal licensing a film to multiple boutiques simultanously. Mill Creek has the Blu-ray and DVD rights to this. Even the 4K licenses do not boutique hop. Scream has always released Army of Darkness and Halloween II for example.

Sony does though.

Really small sample size. You're talking like a precedent has been set already.

I looooooooved this movie, but probably won't buy it again. They'd have to go big with the extras.

Arrow already released this on Blu-ray so it would most likely be them doing the 4k

Especially when the UK only got it on DVD eight months later than the US! Though I hope it gets brought back to cinemas as I missed it because I’d already watched the US Blu-ray before it came out again, and Landon has tweeted about how it didn’t perform as well as it could have done due to the hybrid VOD release (though obviously there was a pandemic too.)

Universal have licensed some contemporary titles to Dogwoof, Dazzler, Mediumrare, The Wolf of Wall Street and Crimson Peak to Arrow and Tales from the Hood 2 to BFI.

2K DI and Del Toro might be too busy to supervise an upscale-slash-HDR grade.

Isn't he a pretty high-profile director for Universal to let a boutique release it? All of his UHD releases were released by the studios themselves.
